If you want a risk-free approach in the Arsenal backline then the only options are Vermaelen and Gibbs:
-Mertesacker is under threat from the return of Koscielny who was ahead of him last season
-Koscielny may not necessary get back in because Mertersacker has gone OK alongside Vermaelen this season
-Jenkinson is potentially under threat either when Sagna returns from injury, or Koscielny playing RB, which I think is unlikely.
Depends whether you are in it for the long term, short term Jenkinson probably makes the most sense due to his price as it will be a while before Sagna is back starting Premiership games (always posibility Wenger could choose to stick with Jenks too).
