Wont be easy to cool. But I still want one.
I was torn between 2700X and Threadripper. Now theres no difficulty, you can have good single and multi threaded performance.
Quick update from me
SC - 498 at about 4300-4375MHz thanks to PBO.
Multi - 3685 at about 4075.
Need to work harder on the multi.
The 3600 is a very impressive CPU.
Indeed, it's hard to look past it for anyone gaming, even if not on a budget as the single core speed is good so put the extra money towards a GPU or elsewhere.
I think for gaming focused builds the 3600X, 3800X and 3950X will be the standout chips.

Even 8 cores is overkill
I've never seen my 9900k fully loaded outside benchmarks
But still, I push it at 5.2ghz cause it's never enough
My first gen R7 (1700 overclocked to 3.9) got 3841.
Very nice to see the R5 now beating the old R7 in MT, and with 100 extra points on ST.
That's good progress.
