well amd site says the 940 max safe temp is 62cWell I clocked the 940 to 3.4Ghz and ran overdrive for an hour, went to about 65c though, but I'm using the supplied fan and than weak thermal paste so yeah...
I'll post some proper results when I buy a new fan and some paste!
that does seem to high.Ah right, I've got it down at 55c at 3Ghz.
Is it normal for it to go that hot on the supplied fan? Seemed a bit hot to me..
mine idle at 30c and never goes over 49c underload, this is at 3.7ghz 1.46v, nb/ht t 2.4ghz, all on air.26 degrees at 3.8ghz?? do these chips just naturally run much cooler than intel ones?
Phenom II's are cooler. example my 940 at 3.7ghz 1.46v, nb/ht t 2.4ghz, do 38c while gaming, using prime95 for 2 hours it goes to 49c. thats with a Thermalright Ultra-120A YS-TECH FD1225 120mm FanI know it's a bit off topic, but I've got a 9950 overclocked to 3.3GHz, and it berely hits 52 under load. Stock cooler and stock paste. I thought the Phenom II's were cooler? Cheers, Chris.
1.5v is safe amd says, but u need a good cooler.ahh i cant even get mine stable at 3.6 atm =( whenever i change anything to diwth with ht speeds it just hates it, and it wont boot properly at 3.6 even at 1.425v if i just raise the multi, any thoughts?
just make sure u keep it under 60c..ahh i see i was getting a bit worried at 1.45 becuase it seems pretty high, especially seen as my old athlon ran much hotter at 1.35 lol, but ill see if 1.5 makes any difference as well, temps seem ok, still under 50 on load with a thermaltake blue orb as cooling, so theres definately still some headroom i think![]()
it's better to use prime95 or OCCT to test it. AMD Overdrive doesn't push the cpu as far as prime95 or OCCT do.Also, I used AMD Overdrive to test clocks, once I'd found the sweet spot I used the BIOS to set the speeds!
yeah games may not have any issues. but windows itself may get issues if it's not 100% stable.. example i can run amd overdrive test at 3.7ghz 1.44v without fail but prime95 fails at that voltage, at 1.46v prime95 runs without issues.Understood but it's worked fine for me thus far, I've been playing Men of War for hours at 2048x1158 full detail, 4xaa, 16xaf, no problems at all.![]()
same as mine.Just looking in my bios and things are slighty different as they show multipliers and not ghz? Would someone be kind enough to explain these so I know where to start my overclocking??
similar to mine and the temps...This does me fine.
Idles @ 32* and load of 46*, 50* max after a hour of Prime
BSOD's on Vista boot-up if take NB/HT to 2.6GHz, but to be honest, havn't really tried 2.2 or 2.4, but will give it a go soon. Will I notice much speed increase?
Also, is this voltage ok as a 24 hr voltage? Is it decreasing life by much?
yes but its better to run the htt the same as the NB speed if can.Hmmm I thought HTT speeds didn't make that much difference whereas NB made a lot?
nobody knows really but 1.30-1.35v is perfectly safe, which will get u to 2.6ghz.What is the MAX safe NB voltage on a 940?
cpu at 3.7ghz, nb/htt at 2.6ghz, gpu at 745/1145What sort of 3DMark06 scores are people getting?
At 3.4GHz I got 15,552.
When I get a moment I'll run it at 3.9GHz and see the difference.
look in c:\Program Files\AMD\OverDrive\DefaultConfig.xml.. maybe try editing it or delete it.Oddly AMD Overdrive now reboots my PC when I try and run it?
Does anyone know how to 'reset' it because I've tried a re-install and that has failed.
