Just replaced the backplate on my Dualsense Edge with one of the extreme rate kits. The rubber grips on mine had started to bubble and peel away so was getting a little irritating to use, particularly as I've been using my controller a lot more to play DS2 this last week +.

Extreme Rate backplate kit was only 15 quid, arrived in about 5 days and was pretty straightforward to pop on! Matte colouring as well compared to the glossy on the original Edge so looks a little cleaner. It's a shame to not have the rubber grip anymore but I'll see how quickly I get used to it.

I bought a soldering iron and channelled 15 year old me in CDT to fix a drifty launch controller. Easier than I thought it'd be with the right tools. I just replaced the potentiometers instead of replacing the sticks fully and it's good to go again. I did buy a new controller in advance as I couldn't not play Death Stranding 2 right away:D

Yep!

This is what I ordered, directly from ExtremeRate rather than from the Rainforest.

Took around 5 days to arrive - and I followed this video:

Thanks for the link, not looking to change my DualSense but they have some cracking Switch Pro Controller shells, am really tempted by the scarlet red.

Ordered one. How does the texture feel?

Pretty similar to a regular controller, used it the last two nights on DS2 and was basically used to it after 30 minutes. Feels nice not to feel that loose rubber on the edge of your hand for once.

Got mine yesterday. They honestly look stock. The tolerances are on the back shell are very tight and it fits very snuggly. Highly recommend.

Yeah, definitely took me a bit by surprise how tight the back shell was to get on but once it's all in place it really is a snug fit. Glad they worked out for you!

Nice I was able to order the console and controller. Much easier than last time.

Don't have to pay until they ship them either.

Sony is brining a new power saving feature to the PS5. If you enable it, your PS5 will use less power while gaming and no it's not free - your games will have lower performance but at least you're saving the environment I guess lmao greenwashing Sony

I found out yesterday you can lease a PS5 Pro from Sony for £30 a month for a 12 month term. Not ideal because you don't own it after that period but if you want a PS5 Pro for a relatively low monthly price that seems like a decent option.

They say the low power mode is a test bed for the upcoming handheld. It’s not about saving the environment lol.

I'm all for saving energy when appropriate, but reducing performance is not the way to do it. Encouraging developers to make their games more efficient would be a better use of time, as would making them implement things like dropping the framerate/CPU/GPU usage when a game is paused, on a menu screen or doing something else that doesn't require the entire engine (and therefore hardware) running at full pelt.

That said I've read bizzare comments in the past from people who actively don't use performance modes or run their TVs (including OLEDs!) without HDR turned on under some misguided perception that it'll save them significant money on their energy bill, so it wouldn't surprise me if there are some takers for losing performance for the sake of a few pennies.
