It's a good idea. Hopefully it'll allow non-scalpers to start getting their consoles. There will be ways around it using multiple accounts and addresses no doubt but at least more people will have a better chance. Lottery systems in Japan (mostly for the Switch) have been going for years and it seems to work quite well there.

Absolutely crazy. I like the PS5 a lot, but it's not worth £585 by any stretch of the imagination, and especially not when £135 of that is going straight in someone else's pocket.

Good luck to them. My time is more valuable and can't be bothered to keep trying to catch a release.

Did you already have a base PS4 or a Pro? If you had a Pro, there's not really a killer app yet that warrants the jump to next gen yet imo if you're already on the highest tier of the last gen. I don't think what you paid is 'crazy' so to speak given for what they were going for, it's more crazy seeing as the drops starting to come through pretty frequently now.

Finally admitted defeat and bought one from an eBay seller. £585 including postage for the disc version - not ideal but I've not had any luck finding one elsewhere. No doubt everywhere will get deliveries now...
Your money but I have to say that's a dumb move, you just paid over the odds for nothing.

Could just wait, PS5 have been up for sale granted not in large quantities but still some.

Whatever guys. Like I said before my time is more valuable. Peace out as also not wasting more time trying to justify what I spend my money on either.

I don't really blame you. Having to follow various forums, stock alerts, app alerts and waking up at 4am for stock drops in the hope of securing a console is not a joyful task! Not to mention having to buy an extra t-shirt and cap or game you don't want plus £10 delivery from the official online shops joining the scalping.. what's a couple of days extra pay when you're likely stuck at home more at the moment...

Even without many new titles available playing thing slike God of War in 4k60 is definitely worth the upgrade.

Can’t seem to move Call of Duty Modern Warfare to extended storage. Anyone know why? All the other games moved fine, and there’s plenty of space. It’s not in the list of games that can be moved. Thanks

Edit - sorted now. Not sure if it was maybe updating or something earlier, but after the PS5 being in Rest Mode and turning it on again it’s moving as I type.

Don't let the guys here both you. It's your money and it's up to you what you spend it on.
I remember paying almost 1k to import a ps3.... But I sold it on shortly after for the same price as I just couldn't justify spending that much money when I was also looking at buying a house at the same time. :D

I got one mine on release but spent all the time playing PS4 games so a complete anti-climax truth be told!

I'm doing the same (got the PS5 recently) but I dont find playing PS4 games an anti-climax. Ive been happily playing PS4 games at 60fps and loving it - restarted The Last Guardian, fired up Shadow of the Collosus and rode my horse about for a bit, and started Ghost of Tsushima @60fps. Nothing will ever beat the ps1 to ps2 leap when i fired up GTA3 but i think that's more due to PC gaming spoiling me in terms of graphics and fps.

I also like how you get 20ish ps4 games included with your PS Plus subscription on the PS5 - There are quite a few games on there that I never got round to buying / playing and I can now play Days Gone at 60fps. Only thing needed now is for all PS4 games to be patched to run at 60fps.

That's pretty much all anyone is doing to be fair, which makes paying a penny over RRP for the thing a bit baffling.

I imagine we'll see a few more big games patched this year and that'll be it, most developers aren't going to go to the effort of digging up old projects, patching and testing for zero financial gain.

Managed to snag a Ps5 from Game eairlier, a relatively simple check out.
Have been trying off and on since November 19th. Twitter/discord alerts on but always seemed to just miss out.

I mean - I guess it's easy for me to say "Don't pay the scalpers" when I managed to place my pre-order the day they went live, I didn't have a sticky-fingered Amazon driver, and mine arrived on November 19th.
However, I was never going to pay more than RRP for it. If I hadn't secured one for release day I'd have kept on chasing the drops, but not to the point where I was staying up all night waiting for 3:00am drops or getting myself all stressed out. If I'd had to wait until November 19th 2021, so be it - only ever gonna pay RRP.

I've been playing mainly the PS5 versions of games - Spider-Man MM, AC Odyssey, Watch Dogs Legion, Sack Boy, Fenyx. I'm sure the "generation leap" games are still just around the corner. I don't regret being an early adopter, but if I hadn't been able to secure one, waiting wouldn't hurt either.

I'm at the point where I'm only interested in getting one from Amazon, if I get a notification they have some I'll try to buy one, of I don't I'll try again next time. I'm in no rush, not even like there are any games yet.

Whenever I get notification somewhere has stock by the time I'm on the appropriate site (seconds usually) they are always sold out or the site is down.
I'd much rather be able to pay someone like Amazon or whoever and simply wait until they get one, not bothered about the waiting at all, but it would be good know I'm in the queue as it were. Getting nowhere fast currently!!!
