*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S4 Thread ***

Well, if you have just gone over to O2 4G you will find that it will not switch to 4G. It appears that a patch is required to switch it on:

I was wondering why I couldn't get the signal. A short term solution is to download Battery Monitor Widget:

Go tests/device info and set preferred network type to LTE/GSM

I now have 4G and lets hope the patch appears asap.

:)

Pretty impressive faux pas from O2 there!

It's quite unbelievable! Nobody bothered to test the phone and now they have to rely on Samsung to patch it quickly. :o

The workaround is fine but I wonder how many mere mortals will understand what to do.

Just had an update to an app from Play and it downloaded in a flash. My speedtest result:

That setting for anyone else stuck without 4G:

I got O2 4G on the day it came out and they forgot to tell me that I needed a 4G SIM. Once I got this it worked first time without any patches. Maybe being on a custom ROM (FoxHound) at the time made a difference?

I suspect that is the case. I'm running stock unbranded and that was released with LTE disabled. Luckily that app does the business so I don't have to wait for the next release from Samsung.

What speed have you managed to get?

The highest I have managed to get 21 down and 15 up, which is better than what I got on H+.

I even get 2 bars on LTE in Kingston which is great for me.

The move to 4G was actually £0.22 cheaper than my existing tariff which I was surprised about. So I decided to add 1GB more for about £5 (2GB in total) and that gave me their bonus of 3GB extra for taking out 4G in the first month... 5GB in total for £5 more a month.

Oh, I should have mentioned that I am on O2 Business... not sure if that makes a difference.

Got this last night:

That was in the garden. :D

I've also got 5GB on mine.

We may see LTE-A some time next year so this is only for bragging rights. I would expect the S5 to have the capability.
