*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

If anyone wants to try it, changing the resolution works quite well on this phone.

Requires root but unsurprisingly I can't tell the difference with this screen size, benefits are increased performance in games (only those that run at 1440p natively) and more free memory, 1GB free on my device.

No reason of course this can't be done on other 1440p devices.

You need Build Prop Editor and Resolution Changer Pro, both need root.

My s6 is out for delivery today :)

Surprised at how fast ups can deliver from Germany.

Just printed out a sim card cutting template so I can use it tonight.

Looking forward to a nice upgrade from my trusty old s4.

How long did it take you? Mine as delivered yesterday and was ordered on the 28th, so 4 working days.

Some initial thoughts, I was going to get a new sim so still using my S4 for a bit longer.

Still loads of crap preinstalled, I disabled/removed as much as I could and took the best part of an hour to do so.
Having a finger print reader is great
Camera is a nice improvement (Samsung sensor)
Screen is much of muchness improvement - I wouldn't change because of this
Build quality improvement is nice but wouldn't change because of this
It's nice having 64GB of inbuilt memory
I'm glad they put the headphone jack on the bottom.

IMO it is worth getting for the camera and finger print reader, especially as I needed a new phone anyway.

One thing that does annoy me about the fingerprint scanner is that it doesn't recognise me when I get out of the bath/shower! I have to wait 10 mins for my fingers to de-prune before I can use it haha

Thanks for the thoughts. Sounds like you aren't hugely impressed with yours?

I ordered mine on Sunday, so three working days if it does indeed turn up today.

Tried registering your prune fingers? :p

It is exactly what I expected it to be. Would I buy it again? Yes, definitely. Would I have bought it if my S4 didn't need a new battery? Probably not. Should I have bought a battery for my S4 instead? Would have been much cheaper but I chose not to and still would make the same decision. It's hard to be overly enthusiastic when my previous phone was still good at all other tasks. I'm still a little bit annoyed about the stock situation in the UK and I miss the menu button.

I know what you mean, I was a bit loath to buy a new phone with my s4 still doing a good job.

Guess the desire for something new and shiny eventually became too overwhelming :p

Received a URBAN ARMOR GEAR Case for Samsung Galaxy S6 - Ash

Always wanted a UAG for my previous phone but always been a bit pricey (>£30)

this was still pricey at £22 from Amazon but wow! what a case, its very tough, feels great, great grip, buttons very tactile, screen well protected, the camera protected, looks good too, cutouts all in the right place.

here are some pics against a cheap £5 Ringke Fusion case, as you can see it doesnt add too much bulk

definitely recommend it

Nearest one is only down the road but closed at 17:30.

Not chancing putting the sim in and screwing up a £480 phone.

Will wait till tomorrow when it's late night shopping and open till 20:00.

Checked the phone out on wifi though and it is a lovely device :)

Exynos 7420 is a beast when not crippled by the 1440p resolution. :D
