That was exactly my reaction when I was recently subjected to some awful music on the top deck of the 319 bus to Streatham.

URGGGGGGGHHH!!

BRING BACK THE GHETTO BLASTER!

At least then you can beat them to death with it.

I can honestly say I've once seen a person walking down our street with music blasting from a phone, and that's it. Not on the train, bus (not that I'm on them any more) or anywhere else. We are rural though, so it's not a surprise.

Really though, it's not the point - you don't make a phone so ***** can annoy people with it - that's a social issue, and not one which everyone suffers from.

Front-facing stereo speakers and, call me vain, the design are what had me looking at the M9. If, however, the M9 doesn't get rid of that bloody black HTC bar I have a third-world problem.

If the S6 can match the M9 for performance and battery life, has front-facing stereo speakers and has a design that makes me want to put it down my trousers, I'm in. If not, I'm back to the third-world problem.

Out of interest who uses phone speakers? They're always **** :p

I don't think anyone really uses them for the quality.

Just playing a game where you're not pointing the speaker at others is a bonus. You'll get some weird looks if you're playing Carmageddon anywhere and the screams and splats are going anywhere but towards you.

Putting the speaker(s) on the rear was always stupid, and I honestly don't know why it took so long for someone to point the sound towards the viewer.

The Nexus 5 is even worse, as if you hold the phone in landscape view to watch a video or play a game, you instinctively block the speaker. Who the **** cleared that idea?

That's true but I've had a couple of situations where they'd be useful and if I'm going to have the phone for a while why not :p. Getting ready in a hotel room in the morning for example.

Curved display is interesting (and probably not overly useful)...

The curved sides are most likely not for usability purposes like on the Note Edge, those edges look too small to serve as a notification ticker etc.

It's more likely to be an aesthetic change as they've moved the bezel to the side of the phone so when you're looking at the screen head on, you won't see any bezel.

I have mixed feelings on this phone, my main concerns are:
  • Exynos 7 (if true that is) looks to be a powerful beast. Will it be as feature rich as Qualcomm's offerings though?
  • TouchWiz - I just can't bring myselft to believe Samsung have actually put any effort into making TouchWiz look like anything but a Fisher Price UI.
  • Samsung's continued fight to duplicate every Google service in order to try and get people to use their services. There's also the rumour it will ship with MS services off the back of the patent settlement deal the two sides have struck

what is interesting is that everything we have seen so far has showed the edge,so i am wondering if the s6 has an edge and there isn't two models as we are so far been led to believe.

If an IPX trating is confirmed, it has SD slot, front facing speakers, some new battery and screen trickery and is 5"~ then consider it a release day purchase from me. Thinner than Z3, edge screen and the other stuff previously rumoured (lightweight and less fondled TW etc) = Win win.

Sony selling off their phone division means the Z3 will likely be my last Sony phone.

I have the S4 and had the S2 before that. I had intended to switch brands as I'm a bit bored with the Samsungs however this could be shaping up nicely and I may have to change my mind :p
