*** The Official Samsung Galaxy S6/Edge Thread ***

Had a quick hands on the normal and edge version at a quiet CPW branch. The guy gave me them both to play un-tethered.

Glad he had the black (read - dark blue) S6 as that's the one I'm after. Perceived build quality is now superb, looked and felt top tier. It is quite impressive at how quick the camera loads up. The rest was as seen in the reviews, nothing to complain about but the price and lack of sd slot really. Cemented my decision to purchase.

The Edge felt well a bit edgy/sharp. The metal frame on the sides are very noticeably felt in the hand. Not for me personally. Looked stunning though.

Yeah also got to have a play with both today and I really liked them, the edge didn't do anything for me tbh other than look a bit more fancy.... The phone is much quicker and smoother than previous galaxy devices, couldn't see any lag at all and the camera does launch very quickly. Feels and looks premium and of course the screen is stunning

One thing with that glass back though - finger print/smudge magnet!

Unfortunately the price is far too high and I can't see it dropping for quite a while and when it does drop to more sensible pricing, the next nexus will probably be announced/released.

The Note 4 was my next go to but it is just too big and I am not keen on that touchwiz version (GS 6 touchwiz is a lot better/lighter, although would still prefer stock android...)

I want to really like this phone, but I can't stand Touchwiz. The glass back is not even an issue since I'll dBrand that ASAP and not have to worry about it, build seems great, fingerprint scanner is on point, solid camera, just bad software.

Your loss :p

But yeah I understand your point. I feel the same way about LCD screens.

I would definitely get a dbrand skin too! Not only would it avoid that issue but it would look and feel a lot better!

Can Samsung not see just how awful and dated touchwiz looks now!? :(

Yeah, its a straggle, Samsung have the only decent OLEDs (Moto X 2014 is meh by comparison), but I find it tough using TouchWiz.

IKR, its painful that they throw so much money at something thats mostly worst the stock, I guess its not super laggy now so thats something.

A well designed theme made by a 3rd party will go along way to mask Touchwiz's dire colour scheme.

was about to post exactly this... with the theme engine there's really little to complain about with touchwiz other than the fact its called touchwiz (which some will never get over!)

Ah yes I forgot about the theme engine.

How long do you reckon it will be until the 32GB non-edge is available for £500? I can see it being a long wait :(

Was going to post some pics of my case... Someone beat me to it :P haha

I got the metal slate one

Quite nice they include the protector for the back

Wondering if I should have got the clear one... You'll have to post some pics of it with your phone in once you've got that and I'll do the same. What colour phone did you go for? Mine is black

Gold mate! sound like a Sam Sparro song.

The Standard S6 might, but i think the edge will stay high for a while.

I'm pretty sure the 64GB edge would go for sub in the £650 classifieds within weeks of release. As most people with upgrades would want to make a quick buck.

Historically Samsung flagships have always launched at a high price point and quickly lost value. Just look at the Note 4, release price £650 now can be had for £450.
