The official Sony A99 mk2 thread

The funny thing is the Alpha mount has far more lens support than the FE mount. If I was ever going to switch to Sony it would definitely be for this and not the ridiculous A7 cameras.

How does it have more lens support, any A mount fits the E mount. Not sure whats ridiculous about it, ever thought some people have different needs to yourself.

Just been reading about this. Beats the 5dMkiv in all departments (more than likely by a country mile) and is cheaper too.
About 30% of the light entering the A99 MKII lens gets bouned off to a Face Detection system so image quality suffers, due to more noise from having to push ISO higher. On the plus side Auto Focus is up there with DSLR's

You mean 1/3 of a stop of light is bounced off to the phase detect AF system, not 1/3 of all light is bounced off to the face detect system.

It only fits with an adapter which add weight and expense, and provenly reduced image quality and auto focus ability. Lens adapter s simply aren't a solution if you are serious about the results.

Doesn't effect IQ and Focusing until now has been better than on A mount cameras.
Expense, so what since when were the A7 cameras aimed at the budget conscious.

Nonsense. A mount AF has always been and still is better than E mount. CDAF and OSPDAF is good, but it's still not as good as a dedicated PDAF.

The LA-EA2/4 adapters only affect IQ in so far as they suffer from the same 1/3 of a stop light loss due to the requirements of the 15 point PDAF system.

I'm for one very excited about this news. As a A77 owner, this will probably be my upgrade. Hopefully Sony will release some G master A mount lenses. Also, I hope the auto-focus will be as good as Canon's dual-pixel autofocus. Also, what will be the lowest ISO with Slog? Would like to know what the HDMI out support is too.

Love my A99 and will consider this in time.
No other camera has ever felt like an extension of my hand like it so I couldn't consider anything else really.

People get hung up on the light loss of SLT which I understand if you are a pro but for the vast majority of us who are amateur and don't need more than ISO3200 it really isn't a problem and the benefits far outweigh the downsides.

It's also great to see more FF options which at least offer something uniquely different from the usual configurations.
