I could not find a thread on this phone so I decided to make one

I think its an excellent phone although I am not too happy with the Samsung clone look and 4GB ram, still think Sony could have used their old box design with no top and bottom bezels and could have made a better phone rather than this S9 clone look alike. Some Sony design concepts on the internet are just drop dead amazing.

I want to buy one but have just found out that the Asian model will have 6GB ram instead of the 4GB for the European and American, which is so ridiculous.

I don't know why Anandtech have their own version of the news.

Everyone else reports it otherwise:

The large 6-inch P-OLED display (made by JDI and Panasonic) features 2880 x1440 pixels resolution.

Das Xperia XZ3 verfügt über ein sechs Zoll großes P-OLED-Panel, das anscheinend aus der Produktion des kürzlich mit Panasonic gegründeten Joint-Venture des japanischen Display-Konzerns JDI stammt.

Ah I see. Either way I'm glad there's another manufacturer of OLED displays other than LG and Samsung. I hope LG step up their game as their last effort was disappointing.

Yup, and that looks like a very serious joint effort of giants like Panasonic and Sony, Toshiba and Hitachi (JDI).

There should also be another joint venture between Sharp and another Japanese company going to produce OLED panels, this is due to start making screen in 2020?

also there also a Chinese company too joining oled screen for phones. I would not be surprised if over the next few years OLED screen will take over LCD screen completely apart from the most budget screens.

EDIT
Sharp to churn out OLED screens for its smartphones

I do not like this trend of ever growing prices. Will OLED contribute with lower production costs or prices will keep rising?

yea i cant see the point of buying flagship phones anymore when mid range phones are 95% of the experience and a fraction of the price

Madness they've just released the XZ2 Premium for £800 which must mean there's an XZ3 Premium on the horizon...

In other news the Asus ROG phone is at least £1K for the 128GB model. Who'd spend that!?

Great to see Sony bringing back wireless charging at last, still using my Z3 Compact because the performance improvement in newer models wasn't worth losing it. Sadly though as the XZ2 Compact turned out to be a plus phone I'm not holding my breath that the XZ3 Compact will return to th sub 5" format :(

Not sure where you get the idea that the XZ2C is a plus sized phone. It is still only a 5" screen and barely taller than something like the original Moto G which only had a 4.5" screen.

i saw the XZ3 in carphone warehouse today (don't ask me why they called it what they did, honestly Sony's naming policy is nonsensical beyond belief now)

But...the display on the XZ3 is probably the most stunning display i have seen on a phone ever. It absolutely blows away everything including the note 9

Sony rep showed this phone yesterday.

My word the display is fantastic.

The camera was absolutely garbage though, the phone felty quite heavy and mostly top heavy....very odd in the hand, finger print reader is really low too.
