*** The 'official' sports fishing thread ***

I fish a local lake, Redhill fishery. Regularly bag up 70lb+ of F1s.

Cefn Mably half way between Newport and Cardiff is a great place though, definitely would like to go there more often.

used to fish Yateley lakes for carp many years ago, biggest i had was Bazil from the north lake just shy of 50lbs, im more into sea fishing now though.. bagged 9 cod to 10lb amongst other stuff a couple of weeks ago wreck fishing out of Brighton marina.
a forum meet aboard a boat from the south coast somewhere could be good? :) or do i get banned from the thread for mentioning sea fishing? :p

Maybe another thread for an official sea fishing is needed as fishing is a hidden sport yet millions of people do it.

Hopefully I can keep this one to coarse fishing but might be able to have the title changed shortly so it's all types of fishing then it means it won't get all over the place.

EDIT: If a mod spots this message can it please be changed to *** The 'official' sports fishing thread ***

Also I think it might be worth moving it into the sports section if there is one? Ideas would be greatly appreciated. - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/forumdisplay.php?f=13

Has the lake got a website, is it a match lake too?

In a serious session i always seem to get more than 100lb. It's just too easy! 70lb'll be on a casual day with a mate where time is mostly spent talking.

I hate pole fishing, i have a pole but i much prefer rod and reel. Seems like all anyone does on most ponds these days is use a bloody pole rod. **** that.

I hate easy lakes, it's much better to try harder than catch every put in. Lakes need to be worked at to understand them.

That lakes looks nice, needs some features to fish too though.

Depends, I enjoy an easy day by the lake catching a few easy fish with bare minimum gear (i.e. not boxes and boxes of kit/tent/etc etc) whilst sitting in the sun with a can of fosters. That's how I look at fishing and how I choose to enjoy it!

Yeh, can't beat this too! It just depends what mood I'm in really. I like a challenge or two on any acceptable method.
