*** The Official Steam Deck Thread ***

Many games classed as unsupported by Valve are only marked as such because they haven't got round to officially checking them.

Yup, especially for older games, devs aren't going to bother getting them verified unless they're still actively supported. As already suggested, check ProtonDB for compatibility.

Chances are, if it runs on Linux, has decent controller support, and is more than a couple of years old (so has relatively low hardware requirements) there's a good chance it will work fine.

I am late to the party as always; but is the Steam Deck likely to be in the next sale around Christmas?

I've never really paid attention before to when it is discounted.

If you do a bit of googling about how to add the "Decky Loader" plugin to your deck, you can add the ProtonDB plugin which will how you a nice label directly in each games store page showing how compatible with the Deck it really is, which is the main advantage of the plugin. Many games classed as unsupported by Valve are only marked as such because they haven't got round to officially checking them. ProtonDB will tell you if a game runs out of the box, or if there are any minor niggles etc.

Just installed this and that helps a lot thanks.

My deck has pretty bad backlight bleed on the edge. I’m sure I can put up with it but it’s a tad annoying.

Is yours a matte finish display with a protector? I found some protectors do weird things with that screen.

Also I have all the Batman 3D games and they all seem to run well. Can't remember if I needed to tweak compatibility or not, but can check if you want.

I have not applied the protector yet giving the deck a little twist has helped a fair bit. Good stuff with the Batman games.

The PWM screen is defiantly noticeable for me though after an hour my eyes feel pretty rough.

If this is a brand new LCD you've bought I think I would be checking with Valve about a replacement. My LCD doesn't have noticeable bleed really, certainly not uneven if that is what you are seeing. If twisting it changes the bleed then that would have me thinking about returning it if it is only days old.

It’s ok now.

Really liking the deck it’s a bit of a faf with some things like Xbox game streaming setup otherwise it works well and I prefer it to the rog ally. The only thing is it’s so slow to load games they take ages for some reason. I was comparing Hogwarts between switch 2 and it takes about 4x longer to load into the game. I have a 1tb ssd coming tomorrow so hopefully that helps a bit. Otherwise it’s great.

Really impressed with my LCD version, havnt really stretched the legs of it properly, mostly using it to play simple games and lower poly/pixel art style stuff.
It just seems to work, dosnt make a song or dance about it but it just works and it works well. Very slick UI and every game I've tried has performed flawlessly. It dosnt get excessively hot or loud either.
I also seem to have been lucky with backlight bleed as well.

Very happy with my purchase so far. Probably a couple of years off yet but I'll be following the Steam deck 2 closely. My previous forays into handheld gaming has been mixed. This has one me over hands down!

I'm playing through Uncharted, it looks great on the Deck and performance so far has been great. Although, it does seem to have an audio crackling issue, which can sound pretty bad depending on the section of the game.

What's best way to install GOG games? Through the launcher? I need to look at how to even install it.

Just picked one up second hand today and very impressed so far indeed. I've got heroic launcher installed. Sure I still have a huge amount to learn but 24hr impressions are great.

Do need to sort out a proper emulation setup on it too though.

Is there a way to clone the internal drive to a new 1TB drive using the Deck and a USB caddy ? I have it all set up and don’t fancy doing it again tbh.

I've got no clue what's going on with my order. I ordered on 2nd Dec, steam app says shipped and gives me tracking number. When I use tracking number it says "The parcel data was entered into the GLS IT system; the parcel was not yet handed over to GLS."

Guess have to wait till tomorrow and see if any update on tracking. I'm guessing all paperwork has been created but parcel hasn't been picked up by the courier company.

That’s what mine said for ages then all of a sudden it all updated and was delivered same day.

My GLS tracking doesn't work any more. I contacted Steam and they said
