Been a while since you played a FPS game?, check out this 11 minute video!
these exact cards were over £150 less than a week ago, at this price I can see the HIS 256MB selling out fast!! In fact I just bought two!Proc said:Some cracking deals, the HIS 256mb for £129, the 512mb are around £150 which is also tempting, I'm thinking of ordering one of the HIS 256mb ones tomorrow
Lol some people are never happy, how would u feel if the price had gone up by 5-10 quid!SkeeterPSA said:Not that much cheaper only say 5-10 quid.
The cards are for two 'seperate' machineseasyrider said:it would be better to . . .
Freakitchen said:Should be a nice improvement over my 6600GT.
beast said:It's about 3X the power
The X1950 pro appears to offer 'twice' the performance of a 6800GT . . .Atomic said:How much more powerful will it be compared to a 6800 GT?
Welcome to the forums btw!Freakitchen said:Thanks
It's a pretty close match between them. So far it looks like the HIS card has the edge . . . I'm waiting for mine to arrive to hear if they are quiet enough.trefaes said:now the 256mb models of the Sapphire, HIS, and PowerColor X1950 are pretty much the same price, which one would be the best option?
I don't think the X1950 Pro is an overclockers card, may overclock mine a bit for benches etc but its performance is so gOOd out-the-box I don't think this is an issuebeast said:Dunno but I keep reading about the HIS and powercolour ones not being good overclockers!
Did you read the comparisons on the opening page? Not X1950 Pros but it gives an indication.dark_shadow said:Right, so what's the verdict on the 256 vs 512mb versions of the HIS X1950 pro's?
Hard to say, depends when the new ATI GPU is out etc, even then I don't expect them to co-launch a mid-range chip at the same time. Other than that maybe nVidia will drop the prices on their 7950 series to below £150 . . .SkeeterPSA said:How long will this card last btw before something better comes along for the same price?
Mate leave it out plseasyrider said:The 8800 GTS would destroy them
Lol this guy cracks me up!~3dGameMan.com said:
"The HIS X1950Pro 256MB Video Card performs very well and has all the technologies to support current games. This series of video card has the new crossfire bridge which makes installation much easier than the cumbersome external cable used previously. One of the best things about this product is the price. It's very affordable! This video card has enormous bang-for-the-buck. Watch the Video to find out more..."
It's 'Turbo' Edition, i.e: all the cards in this range are pre-overclocked.Freakitchen said:When viewing all the x1950s on the OC shop front, the HIS card appears the fastest of the 256 Pros with a clock of 620Mhz, and memory clock of 1480. When looking at the detailed specs of the card, however, it seems the actual clock speed is lower than that - and the above quoted figures are for the card in 'Turbo' Mode.
That's a good question. I think you still need some kinda 'Crossfire' support from the mobo . . . I'm not familiar with the '590'.grs_link said:1st. since it has crossfire onboard.. u dont need a crossfire mb anymore right? I can go for a 590 right
As far as I know the X1950 Pro features 'Crossfire2' meaning their is no master/slave thing anymore.grs_link said:2nd. are you sure that you can crossifre 2x256mb cards..? I am asking cause i read something that only the 512s are master/slave ad that the 256 can serve only as slaves. is this true??
Its not clear whether or not you are saying 'Crossfire' mobo like what ATI make or a 'Crossfire' Capable motherboard like the P965/P975X?easyrider said:You need a crossfire mobo to run crossfire.
Its not the second, its the fourth, and yes its for a second system . . . Still gonna try them both togther, never had any hands on experience of SLI or crossfire . .easyrider said:Thought you said the second x1950 pro was for a second system?
have a read of the reviews in the opening post!goody_106 said:What nvidia card would [compare favourably] to one of these x1950 pros - i.e. price or performance?
Thanks, I am tryinggoody_106 said:My bad; opening post changed since i last read it!
Great thread btw
It's just 'semantics'easyrider said:Why does it have to compare favourably?
Hi Beast, I just got my HIS delivered today but haven't got it installed yet. I would imagine that both cards perform exactly the same when clocked at the same speed.beast said:What sort of score does the HIS 256mb version get in 3d mark 05/06? In turbo mode, just wondering if it's better than my sapphire clocked to the same speeds.
