how do you get pictures to fade into opacity?

like in your sig the guy on the left kinda just blends out into the background :p

any help would be great cheers mate as i have been trying to find out how to do this for a while :)
 
Select the layer then go to

Layer -> Add Layer Mask -> Hide All

Then just select the layer mask in Channels and brush some white onto it where you want the layer to be visible :)

It's babylon 5 hollow

The way i get things to blend is use the Polygonal lasso tool with a feather of about 15 and just draw around the inside of the pic you want to blend then right click inside the selection and then select inverse then just press delete a few times..

you should have use a blue matte for the edge of your image

one to match the forums nicely, darker rather than lighter

thats why you get that white jaggie down the left edge of your sig
 
Yeah i know :( i made the sig for another forum which has a grey theme. ill have a tweak about. im still keen to do some for other people but im allways too late,
 
you can have a go at a new Pinhead one for me if you want....
pinhead, hell chains and blood are usually good ;) maybe a cenobit or two....dont know how much you could get on one sig though....
