The colours were already there i had a colour layer over the top and i changed the colour balance to black to cover up the colours...

If your using photoshop you can download brushes with are all different shapes and types not just the boring ones that come with photoshop then just make a background and just use the brush to brush over the background to add colour..Just do a google for photoshop brushes
