Its nice to see them. The first one was excellent. Whats the deal with the trip? Meeting TerraS ?

Yeah. 3 week trip :D Friday/Sat/Sun was fantastic because I got to hang out with the local Toronto Photobloggers. Its such a shame there isn't anything like that in the UK. Its a shame we all live so far away. Some of these guys are going to the Amsterdam one :o Monday we wandered the city and saw some crazy fireworks. People firing them at each other n stuff. Today I was rode the tour bus a bit to get a few ideas. Tomorrow I'll visit the local island :D

Im so eager to go shoot niagra falls.

If you do go on a Friday/Sunday as they have fireworks then. The whole falls lights up, both American and Canadian. Oh and do go on a hot day and ride the Maid of the Mist :D Very refreshing.

Another great set Pete. I've got your site as one of my live bookmarks now. I appreciate the description to the shots as well - it adds greatly to them! With regards to the last shot in the set, how did you achieve such a fantastic star effect around the lights? Is it just a property of your lens - ie large number of elements in the lens construction?

Normally you put the aperture to like f/22 and you get star like effects. I got great ones on my Canon 28-105 and not so great on my Sigma 10-20. However on my Sigma 24-70 I get amazing ones at pretty much any aperture. I can't wait to use it on the city at dusk, when we get a non overcast dusk :)

Canada is great everyone should go once in their life!

You should have read the thread. I've been to Niagara. Do you mean the maid of the mist? I've been on that and got pictures.

IIRC, the number of aperture blades determines the number of star spikes (more blades, more spikes)
The 10-20 has a relatively small 6 blades.

Ah. Oddly my 28-105 has 7, if google is right. My 24-70 has 9. Theres a huge difference between the Sigma 10-20 and the Canon 28-105. Can 1 extra blade make that much difference?

Great pictures, you are making me so jealous. The girlfriend and I are away to Toronto and Niagara in August and seeing your pics makes us hardly able to wait!! Dont know if you have taken a pic of this building in Toronto or not, its the hotel we are going to be staying in, it is called the Suites @ 1 King West and funnily enough is located at 1 King West :p A very fancy looking building!!

If it gets nice over the next few days, and if I remember I'll try and get a shot :)

There looks to be so much to see and capture. bet your arms gonna be bigger by the return home due to excessive camera use :)

There sure is. As much as there is to see by day there is by night. Unfortunately we were too tired after the day to do any major night shots. It was only on the 2nd to last day that we did some but I nearly fainted so we had to cut that short. The city is totally different at night. The architecture works differently. Can't wait to go back. I arrived back on Friday and I have at least another 150 pics to put on my site. Stay tuned :)

Rayna acoustic gig.

Been keeping an eye on these, awesome awesome awesome :D

Particularly liking the arhcitechtural shots from the most recent update - I really think you excel at these shots :)
(not that I don't think the others are fantastic - just that those are my favourites)

Thanks :) The trip was perfectly planned to coincide with Doors Open for that reason. Its a shame there isn't something like it here. Theres plenty of buildings that would be interesting to walk around.

Superb pictures mate, as previously said, we are off to Toronto in August but the first three days we are staying in Niagara, specifically on a Sunday night so we can see the fireworks!

I found your building. I might eventually get to it before you leave :) Cool place.

Yeah, I bet that cruise deal they do where they stay in the mist is a right refreshing experience.

Yeah it really was :) 34c and I was standing inside Niagara Falls. My camera survived the experience. I had it wrapped up in my blue Maid of the Mist coat thing but it still got rather wet. Still working, for now :)
