Despite adequate cooling, I've been unfortunate enough
to now be on my 4th Console.
So now I have 2, and my plan has worked so far.
when one is bust (too often) I get the spare one out (in warrenty) while
the other gets fixed.

Obviously I shouldnt have to do this but I was wondering If anyone
else had taken such drastic measures or am I completely mad? lol.

while I am here: Has anyone with the new falcon machines suffered any problems so far or,
has the terrible failure rate finaly been resolved?

Your mad ;)

Really its whatever works for you, if you use your xbox a lot theres nothing wrong with having two seeing as you have been very unlucky so far!

Ive got a Premium v2 and its been fine so far but ive only had it since christmas!

Are the Elites Falcons? If so, yes my friends Elite RROD'd on him.

He has been seriously unlucky with 360's in general though, and am sure it has something to do with where he is placing it etc.

I think the idea of having two consoles in case one breaks is absolutely ridiculous and laughable. It really is an implication of how shoddy the 360's build quality is. I will never own a second box just out of principle! I'd rather wait it out (which isn't so bad because I already have a PS3 and PC).

I don't see it as laughable or ridiculous, there was a thread in the PC section recently about how many people have a 2nd PC or enough spares to make a PC just in case, and the numbers who did was very very high, I don't see having 2 consoles as much different, in fact its quite a testament to just how good the 360 is that people would have 2 just in case they had to do without it. I have 2 also, one has a dodgy dvd drive that does not read games 20% of the time so its going back soon :)

It's a terrible pity that we even have to have this thread thanks to MS's botch job at engineering. I was thinking of getting a cheapo Arcade one for backup. It would also come in handy for when the nieces/nephew comes round as they are always mithering to play Viva Pinata when I am in the middle of some other game.

I do agree it's a great console, but we shouldn't have to buy seconds or backups, it's wrong. It's giving money to a company because of its failures. I don't have a problem with the people buying the extra consoles, just the company.

i had two for that very reason of one dying, it has now so one left, the other i couldn't even be bothered fixing as it was RROD and have sold on ebay for £85 as spares. The way i see it from many on here and other forums with refurbs is once its been back to MS they don't last hence the i'm on my 3rd/4th/5th console posts and i cannot be bothered with all that as we shouldn't have to keep sending things back. When this one goes i'll stick to the PS3 till xbox720 or whatever comes next.

Just to progress this thread i have another question:

Has the Xbox 360 put you off buying the next Xbox when its made, on launch day ?

I think i'd wait it out.
