The only way is to have 2 (Xbox 360)

I have two-for a variety of reasons, but, initially, failure insurance was the main one.

We KNOW we shouldnt have to - but thats not the question. My PS3 hasnt broke-but i still would choose the 360 every time (and ive had two die on me).

Just to progress this thread i have another question:

Has the Xbox 360 put you off buying the next Xbox when its made, on launch day ?

I think i'd wait it out.

not at all. despite it's obvious problems, i think the 360 is excellent and a step forward in the right direction when it comes to functionaility etc etc.

The difference having secondary pc's is not comparable with having second 360's. People use PC's for all manner of things, 360's are used primarily to game or enjoy media functions, more to the point, these should not break.

Ive had 2 360's, neither have broke when in my possession but my first one broke about 3 months after i sold it.

Despite adequate cooling, I've been unfortunate enough
to now be on my 4th Console.
So now I have 2, and my plan has worked so far.
when one is bust (too often) I get the spare one out (in warrenty) while
the other gets fixed.

Obviously I shouldnt have to do this but I was wondering If anyone
else had taken such drastic measures or am I completely mad? lol.

while I am here: Has anyone with the new falcon machines suffered any problems so far or,
has the terrible failure rate finaly been resolved?

I have two 360s. (my premium below is the 4th model I have had in a row due to 2 RROD & 2 DOA)

My premium 360 from March 06 decided to make some lovely disc sounds and the drive jammed (and occassionaly started crashing again) so I decided to get myself a elite to replace it as the main console.

The premium is now upstairs running on my computers 22" screen. This means my wife can use it (she can spend hours on lego star wars at a time lol) whilst I am on the PS3 / elite.

If mine goes I'll have to buy a second while the first is repaired, its used as a media center extender and I don't think two to four weeks with just the receiver in the TV and none of the recorded TV available would go down well, or the alternative of plonking the mce pc down in front of the TV stand.

Yes I doubt very much I will buy another Microsoft console at launch again. They are the worst makers of hardware I've experienced in my lifetime, the only item thats any good is the control pad. It's a mute point though because as I keep saying their won't be a follow up console.

They have taken a battering with reliability and now live. As much as I love playing on my 360 the console has been a shambles. They have arsed up just about every add on.

They want to sell you downloadable material yet charge stupid prices for storage. They want you to buy games and keep hold of them so they dont keep getting sold on. So they charge for downloadable upgrades.

It doesnt take a genius to see if all add on packs where free you would hold on to the game just for any additional stuff that may come your way. Instead games are flooded onto the 2nd hand market losing them sales.

Live just isn't worth the money compared to what you get for free on the PC or PSN. Sooner or later after this months humbling they will make the silver service free to play online and gold a premium download service.

Oh and by the way I have two as well because I couldn't put up with the wait between returns.

They could have nailed the competition this generation with the headstart and games they have had compared to their rivals. MS blew it.
