After taking a look at parkers and popping my fiesta in to see what its worth it told me it cost £ 11350 new. I purchased it for £4k.

What was the price of your car new and what did you pay for it when you purchased it?

1996 Honda Prelude 2.2 VTEC

Price when new according to Parkers (well, for a 97/P model, but there's only 3 months difference in registration dates) was £20924

Say add £1000 for the leather I've since added, making it £21924

I paid £1750 for the car, and then a further £100 for the leather, making it £1850 in May 2005, car almost exactly 9 years old.

LOL, this will be good for me!

Hold on

Ok MY03 MG ZT CDTi

New £19995 (although mines was nearer £21000 with the add ons)

Its only JUST 3 years old, and I paid £7000!

w00t!

Thats a depreciation of £4666 PER YEAR!!!

Handy its now worth more than what i paid for it!

Parkers original price - £24685 - then add full leather (something like £2k i think)
My purchase price - £4000 or so.

A quick look on the net hasn't brought up an exact list price for mine. Best I've found is that they were £10.6k in '86 and had gone up to 13k in '89 (mines an '87)

If I assume a linear year on year increase that would put an '87 at 11.8k. I paid £1500 for it last year so that's depreciation of 10.3k over 18 years or just £572pa (yay for inflation! ;))
