the overheating problem in xbox360

So is there a way to tell what console are/are not affected?

is it possible that some 360's are running with hot as hell gpus?

that is just the daddy of all balls ups. :D

but i guess MS will be relieved that it is merely a human error, rather than design/manufacturing(hardware) flaw.

I've had no trouble with overheating... And i think mines from one of the first wave of consoles. I dunno.

Pretty silly if it's not meant to be there though.

I thought the point of the thermal pads you can get on heat sinks was that they melt when heated by the CPU. They can then spread into all the imperfections on the surface of the CPU and the heatsink thereby creating a better contact. If you stick a bit of tinfoil in the way surely that's going to prevent this from happening?
