well i've in the past left the keys in the ignition after getting the little one out, and with it being a second car, left them there for 2 weeks, only when I wanted to take it out I searched the house and couldn't find them, so went out to garage to check if i'd left them in there but spotted them as I walked past car.
And I can confide with the remote central locking, my car went through a phase of locking and then unlocking itself due to a dodgy wire, so more often than not, it would be unlocked.
