The Peripheral - On Prime

Based on the William Gibson books? FYI, The Matrix / Ready Player One, etc. are derivative of Gibson's works (Neuromancer / Bridge Trilogy) not the other way around.

Didnt realise it was based on a William Gibson book. Have a copy of Neuromancer but could never get into it ( sorry thats probably sacrilege ! ).

From wiki -

The Peripheral is an American science fiction streaming television series executive produced and created by Scott Smith. Solid couple of opening episodes. An intriguing mix of near-future tech and time travel and seems to have high production value. Few shows this year have had me looking forward to the next episode :)

Solid first couple of episodes though the supposedly highly experienced soldiers just standing around in the open post the firefight was a bit poor.

Nice to watch something for once which wasn't ruined by trying to shoehorn in social justice, etc. flag waving every 2 minutes.

I read the book ages ago and was worried that it would get the Altered Carbon treatment (**** the story 7 ways to breakfast), but so far, it’s very well done and very true to the story as I remember it.

Yeah, like other books of this nature I had sort of thought it would be "impossible to film" but they're doing a good job.

Only negative for me so far is Charlotte Riley's accent :D

Really enjoying it, high production levels.
I've not read the books but I'm unsure on the time-travel aspect; could the entire 2030 sequence be a simulation and they're uploading aspects of this simulation into avatars? I'm not after an answer just speculating.

Havne't read the source material, but watched both episodes already. I only 50% understand whats going on so far :D

A bit of Time Travel, a Bit Matrix. No idea how the glowing things in their skin somehow make them COD god Level killers. Or better still, why they have such advanced guns whilst living rurally and playing VR games in a trailer. Why has London got huge statues all over it in the future? Hopefully it will start to make sense soon, but for now the visuals and the sheer wackiness of it all is enough to keep me watching!

p.s. The bitrate/resolution/HDR seems really good compared to other recent Prime releases.

Her brother and his mates and ex-marine force recon ;)

First episode seemed promising but for some reason I found my attention waning during the second.
Something to watch I guess, not a lot of Sci fi about atm.
