This was a hard shot to do, lightning was bad

You're addicted to churches :D Suits me though, I love all the detail in churches, it's nice to see as you don't get many on forums these days. It seems to be a trend that comes and goes for some reason.

You may have noticed me stalking you on Redbubble :D

A couple taken recently. Ashamed to put anything in here really, since i'm new to the whole DSLR club.

Have you tried playing around with your photos in a photo editing program? Can usually turn a nice clear image into something thats really nice to look at from stuff like boosting colour to adding filters etc.

A colour boost on the first picture would really bring out the detail in it in my opinion, but I'm far from an expert!

LoL yeh, what i hate about churches though is they are SO dark sometimes even with complete sunshine outside. Put the lights on and they are low :(

No not got that far yet. I'm using a nikon d50 and noticed that in the majority of shots, the colours just don't look anywhere near as vivid as others on this site.

I guess i'll try shooting raw and playing around in darktable (linux)

That is the first thing I noticed. Bought the camera and wanted to get really lush bright photos like some on here... Quickly figured out you have to do a lot of PP!

On a side note... How do people do the candid shots? I am always to scared of taking the shots in case people say something :/

Lol same, but I also found its highly specific to the lighting conditions which tends to drain your photos of their colour. Shooting RAW solves that though when you stick them on a PC as you can change pretty much everything on the fly then.

My problem is I can't tell when something is too vivid so I tend not to use colour boosting at all at the moment lol. The photos I've put on here are just cropped but the image quality is straight from the camera itself.

You just need to do it, and keep doing it, and eventually you'l become desensitized and won't really care if anyone actually does say anything, however don't go invading people space by getting right up close (without permission anyway) otherwise that could end up nasty.

The trick is confidence, you must display absolute confidence, behave like you would if your trying to court a girl, if you walk around nervous and too scared to make eye contact, you'l just look creepy and of low social value and she'l blow you out, the same goes for people on the street.

You might want to check out the below guy's work, as he actually did a recent project where he went up to 100 strangers on the street and with permission took their portrait.

"Too many to tell - but what is consistant is everyone is curious what the project is for. But what shocked me (today was my first day shooting this projects) is how nice people are in general.

I just tell them its an artistic project I'm doing, trying to get random strangers in the street to take a few shots of and 90% of them are like "okay, sure!"

I was real nervous for when I started but it became a lot of fun!"

i definetly dont have the balls to do that. some day i might actually try it

Try it in busy towns, maybe not your own town so you can be certain you won't bump into anyone you know/knows you just to keep it 100% stranger :p
