I think there's such a thing as *too shallow* when it comes to depth of field here...I think they'd both be far better opened up a stop though then the composition might struggle more.

Can you upload the non HDR?

Ejizz - Your processing has inspired me. The shots technically aren't great (her feet are in focus, not her head ffs lol, but I'm learning and liking the post production. I used to be an over saturated / contrast whore, but there's more to photos than that :)

Horses for courses, I like my bokeh dialled to 11 so it's almost like a bokeh backdrop.

(unless there happens to be a particularly interesting background)

Your dog always looks so confused :)
I like your doggy :)

I think less confused more wise, "poor human will never have the amount of knowledge that I have, So i will just sit here and look awesome instead"

Thanks folks glad you like him/them.
@Dice
He actually is very intelligent, it's spooky just how many words he understands and can pick out mid sentence from other words.
But the reason he usually has that 'interested/alert' face, is because he's looking at what my left hand is doing, sometimes it's just holding a stick to throw, sometimes it's just rustling a leaf, but sometimes it has a biscuit.

Thanks Lee glad you like my processing style.
I also like your processing style btw, it's nice and warm without being too washed out.
My only criticism with the above image (which I think is what you were talking about), is the feet distract a little (still a nice image tbh), if you moved way over to the right, her head would have been closer to the lens relative to her feet, which would look more flattering.

Thanks mate. I've never done anything warm like this so it's new and experimental for me. You got to make the most of these sunny days in Dundee :).

I'm afraid I'm not really sure what you mean. The aim was to be central to the bench, but if you think the composition could have been better, can you explain it a little more? A change of angle? - but yes, the feet seem to be in perfect focus compared to her face. The reasoning for posting was to show the processing, and really to thank you for giving me inspiration :)

These may not be up to the high standards of some of the other pictures posted in this thread but here's a few snaps from my recent trip to Crete. The only thing I've done to enhance these is add a simple frame, granted my photography skills aren't the best but constructive criticism is always appreciated:
