I appreciate what you are saying, yet its a salvaged throw away picture I took before I literally sat on it to have a rest. Its doing very well on numerous websites so I can't complain really. Sadly I didn't have my 50 with me as I took my smaller bag with me with my macro and telephoto lens as I intended on shooting squirrels, yet didn't get to see one sadly!

It's got nice tone and colour, but composition is somewhat it's weakest area.

Haven't used one yet so don't know!

70-200 F4 however is rather good!

I don't normally post photos anywhere as I'm not yet happy with sharing them, however a couple of members of my family have said my pics are really dark but they look fine to me.

Does my monitor need calibrating or are they OK??

Its not the real colour, he's pushed the white balance more towards the blue.

I knew this, but the above is what I expected. Test shot with that new lens of yours?

Haven't tampered with the WB, it's just there are two different colour light sources within the seen. One orange, one blue, and the blue light source was the dominant one...

Tbh I'v only just started myself. I'm not certain what the 'exact' wb is as I didn't take a grey card or anything and it probably wouldn't be accurate because is would depend on which colour light was mostly hitting it. Instead I just left it on auto wb which was pretty close to what I was seeing with my eyes. It was almost 10pm and very dark in the middle of nowhere, below is what it roughly looked like to my eye.

The subsequent increased exposures had the same colour temperature as this, but the foreground had a slight blue tinge in places, with green spots where the orange light was more dominant. By the time you add a bit of contrast and saturation, the scene looks very blue with a bit of orange.
