I was in Paris last weekend and had a read about some of this. They get really fussy about tripods apparently and I think it is illegal to publish someone's photo without their consent, therefore rendering street photography (and publishing) pretty much illegal.Never heard about that - there were hundreds of people taking pictures, so I just followed the crowd

Also it is illegal to publish photos of modern buildings without the architect's permission (usually paid for). This also applies to the lighting on the Eifel Tower as officially you need to pay for a licence from the designer of the lights who owns artistic rights.
How much of the above is actually true I am not sure of as it is just what I have read online but many websites were saying the same thing.
Also, I am not sure how much attention the police actually pay to these laws (if they are laws) and interestingly there were a couple of cases recently where photographers got into disputes over taking photos of buildings and the courts ruled in the favour of the photographers.
