What's a gool?

And, seemingly, nobody cares.

The season hasn;t started, we gte three months off from footie a year, that's interrupted enough by transfer talk, why go and spoil it further with "pre-season" games.

Gol = Goal (in Spanish) ;)

It was an impression of a Spanish commentator.

I don't see why you'd want time off from football anyway, bring on the pre-season I say.

Liverpool's first pre-season game vs St Gallen kicks off at 7pm. If you've got an e-season ticket then you can watch it live online, if not then they're showing the full game on LFC TV, which is free to air at the moment, (sky channel 434) at 9pm.

Darlington 1-3 Newcastle 30 min gone.

Newcastle fans were singing 'If Shola scores we're on the pitch.' Shola scored, cue mini pitch invasion. :D

Didn't take Owen long to find his scoring boots, although its no surprise playing in an infinitely better team.

Who did Man U actually play today? I thought the game was off?

Malaysia

I think Owen will do well as he has never been in a top team - Owens Liverpool was hardly the Liverpool of today, Real Madrid was on a bit of a low... Newcastle enough said. Fergie will look after Owen and he will be given plenty of chances to score. Can you imagine how many Shearer would have scored if he had gone to United?

Good to see owen of to a positive start, i only hope he can stay fit as thats still a major cause for concern.

AFAIK they were due to fly directly after the game to Indonesia for a game or two before moving on somewhere midweek, I wouldn't go if I were them either frankly, I don't think theres a whole lot of chance they'd be in serious danger, but any venue they go to would be a target to make world news. IE someone might blow themselves up getting into the stadium or near their hotel.

City and Arsenal playing games today, will be interesting to see who lines up for Arsenal in the next few games. Will Eduardo be back, fit and able to play without picking up injuries or will we see Wenger prefer to pair Bendtner with RVP as a seemingly first choice, etc, etc. Also, is Rosicky not back in training, might we actually see him, on a pitch... playing football !!!!!!!!!!

Same for City, early days but will be interesting to see exactly who lines up where and what works best.

ANyone that doubts Owen's scoring ability is in for a shock, I still find it hilarious how people slate him, its not his fault he gets injured(you assume anyway), roughly 1 goal in every 2 games for Newcastle. IF he manages to stay fit he'll score a bagfull for Utd.

Owen will score but the question is can his body handle playing for a team that has to win every game, hes done nothing for years and years.

Owen suffered with Liverpool and Newcastle where they had to play him even if he was not fully fit. At ManU they have a big sqaud which will suit owen at this time... get him back into shape. Maybe we will see the best of owen at ManU like we saw with Sheringham.

Owen didnt start the game and came on as a 2nd half sub. Fergie will use him when needed.

Apparently the city game might have a live feed link from City's homepage but their twitter page apparently is saying feed isn't coming through yet, might be delayed and coverage from 2.30, if anyone wants to watch it, no Robinho, Elano, Richards, Onoura due to summer competitions for them.

Getting worried about Rosicky already, the next stage for his injurys to take is for one of his legs to simply drop off during the game. Seriously though, would be great for him to get through even one half uninjured. Hmm, no RVP, Eddie, Bendtner or a lot of others, Arshavin and Rosicky are the only senior non defensive players in the team, Simpson back from loan I'm guessing will start upfront with maybe Wilshire/Arshavin behind him, chance to see Vermaelen aswell hopefully, though hard to judge how good he is against less good players.

Manuel Almunia
Johan Djourou
William Gallas
Thomas Vermaelen
Mikael Silvestre
Jack Wilshere
Mark Randall
Emmanuel Frimpong
Tomas Rosicky
Andrey Arshavin
Sanchez Watt

Starting line up, can't read anything into it yet but Arshavin looks to be in that withdrawn striker role that might prove to be his best, Watt I've never seen before, Djourou at right back it seems, Wilshire and Rosicky on the wings.
