looks like they are for sale already... the pre-order note has gone and you can now buy em !

HI there

Yep, as we know the stock is secure in our warehouse they are now available. All pre-orders will ship out tomorrow and anybody coming to buy one from our shop then come after 2pm as we still need to book the stock in to make it available for shop sales. :)

any idea if the price will be brought in line with the other Q6600s now that ample stock is in and you arnt sorting through trying to find the SLACR's?

Hi there

Basically no as these have actually cost us more to buy in, because of the declining dollar rate.

When we purchased our stock of the normal Q6600 the dollar rate was 2.03, wheras these newer SLACR stepping version have arrived today and the dollar rate is 1.98

So that means these have actuall cost us more to buy in and as such when we re-plenish our stock of the normal stepping our margin will decrease unless we increase the price on those too.

Gibbo, they cost 2.5 pence more to buy wholesale because the pound dropped 5 cents against the dollar ?

A 1000 units only cost 25 quid more at that rate and they are 10 quid dearer each ? Thats still £9975 profit, hardly breaking the ocuk bank are we ;)

Hi there

How do you work this out?

I already said OcUK owns its Q6600 stock purchased at a dollar rate of 2.03.

The new Q6600 GO stepping has being purchased at a dollar rate of 1.98.

On a product that cost $250 thats:- (The Q6600's don't cost $250, this is for example only)
$250 / 1.98 = £126.26
$250 / 2.03 = £123.15

So I don't know where your numbers are coming from but thats clearly not 2.5 pence. The difference due to the dollar rate change is actually over £3 per CPU difference. So on 1000pcs, thats a lot more than £25, in fact its £3150.

You might be forgetting what I said earlier that when we took in our Q6600 stock, it was purchased when the rate was 2.03, we also set our pricing for both the Q6600 and Q6600 GO based on this rate. The fact the rate has now dropped were still holding the original price we set originally based on the 2.03 dollar rate of £159.99+VAT. Plus you guys are also assuming that UK distribution is also not charging more for these chips due to the rarity of them.

Now I don't know how much money you guys think there is in PC components but there is not a lot at all. OcUK has minimal margins that we don't go below but the fact is on CPU's there is not huge amounts of money to be made, your roughly looking at 10%. When you have to hold that product in stock, support it, warrant it, then have other overheads such as these forums then 10% really is not a lot. Now just because some of our competitors may decide to drop to much lower margins is something OcUK does not practice which means we won't always be the cheapest but what it does mean is we shall be sticking around because were a profitable company.

Hi there

We have now shipped nearly all of our pre-orders for this CPU. So tomorrow there will be 100+ happy overclockers. :)

We do have plenty of stock left and if you order before 4:30pm you will get the product next day as long as your payment goes through without issue. :)

Hi there

Whats the general favourite motherboard for pairing with these GO CPU's? I am assuming one of the Gigabytes?

HI there

I do like the looks of the Abit IP35 Pro. :)

Also the Freezer 7 Pro, is that capable of cooling an overclocked GO CPU?

Big.Wayne said:
Gibbo your having laugh m8, the Freezer 7 Pro is barely able to cool a Core2 Duo let alone a Quad! :D

Grab one of the Thermalright Ultra-120 Xtremes from the warehouse :)

HI there

I thought as much. :)

Problem with the Tuniq Tower 120 is they don't fit in all cases, how about the Zalman 9700? Yes the Thermalright is amazing bit of kit but I think we've run out of stock, I shall slap my purchaser.

The Freezer 7 Pro is an ok cooler for the price but nothging speical IMO.

Pair it with the Tuniq Tower. Fantastic cooler.

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient 95W Edition" 2.40GHz
Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Tuniq Tower 120 CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775)

Fantastic bundle.

Hi there

I was thinking:-

Intel Core 2 Quad Pro Q6600 "Energy Efficient 95W Edition" 2.40GHz
Abit IP35 Pro (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard
Zalman 9700 Copper CPU Cooler (Socket 478/754/939/940/AM2/LGA775)
Crucial Ballistix PC2-8500 2GB Memory Kit

Then say discount the whole bundle by about £40-£50. :)

Its just the cooler that is causing issues, for outright performance Tuniq Tower all the way, but its too big and as such won't fit in a lot of cases. Hence why I am now considering the Zalman 9700. :)

Big.Wayne said:
Ohhh I dunno if they will go for it, the rest of the bundle is juicy, hmm perhaps just leave it as the included stock HSF and let people supply their own cooling?

Unless u have a bucket load of Zalman coolers to unload! :o :D

Hi there

Nope with coolers you never need to unload them, they always sell. Its just on things like coolers, arctic silver and memory we can discount massively and as such it represents a large saving on the bundle.

I think what I will do is offer two bundles. One with the Zalman and the other with the Tuniq Tower. Both bundles will also come with a tube of arctic silver.

or the Noctua NHU12F i got one a while ago... very nice cooler !!

ps.. i find it funny how the OCuk people who work with this everyday come to the forum for advice :)

Hi there

I no longer play with the hardware due to lack of time, plus I no longer purchase heatsinks any longer, I leave that to my young apprentice Slackworth. :)

Pre-order available?????????

HI there

Yes in about 15 mins. :)

P.S. The bundles are now also live, at the moment they are not discounted I am just looking into modifying our software so we can enter a discount on the product. :)

Hi there

Here you go, the water-cooling kit:-

Swiftech H20 120 Compact Kit (Socket 462/478/LGA775/754/939/940)
WC-028-SW_400.jpg

Who ever dreamed that high performance water-cooling would one day become simple? We did. When we designed the patent pending Apogee™ Drive, we invented a way of combining two of our existing components: the Apogee water-block and the MCP350 pump. But why stop there? It occurred to us that by also combining the radiator and reservoir, we could further simplify the traditional four-component loop into a revolutionary two-component, high performance Liquid Cooling System that would be incredibly easy to install. So we added a reservoir to the existing Quiet Power MCR120 radiator, and Voilà! Now we can proudly say.

- High flow system: high power pump, reduced flow path, low pressure drop, 81 CFM fan (@12 volts).
- Quiet pump, 12 to 7 volt fan adapter for low noise (26 dBA) operations.
- Optimized radiator for high heat dissipation @ low noise.
- Incredibly simple to install
- Only two components (8 screws) to install
- High Reliability and Low Maintenance
- 50,000 hours MTBF pump.
- Low porosity laboratory grade Norprene® tubing.
- Sleeved tubing with anti-kinking Smartcoils.
- Up to 5 years without refills.
- Capable of handling the latest desktop processors from Intel® & AMD® .
- Ample capacity for additional cooling of graphics cards and chipset.
- Installs inside of most cases featuring a rear 120mm fan. Please check the radiator dimensions to ensure full compatibility with your particular case.
- The Optional Universal Radiator Housing MCB-120 "Radbox" expands the kit compatibility for external radiator installation to almost any chassis and can also significantly improve CPU temperature.
- Superior Value
- The reduced number of components translates into superior value compared to anything currently available on the market: the bottom line is that you get more cooling power for less money!

Gibbo, nice one, I like it, not bad price either  :D

You might want to get a few more of these in, the could sell well as the stepping stone between high end air and traditional water.

Hi there

500 available in two weeks time, just our first shipment was airfreighted in and hence only a small amount to introduce the product into the market. The second shipment is via land/sea and hence we save a little money and can get much larger volumes in. :)

Me wants one...

Now only if Gibbo would stock some Sharkoon 2000 120mm ("Golfball") I could make a nice order this Friday!

Is the Swiftech kit gonna be in a bundle Gibbo?

Hi there

Slackworth is gonna get a beating when he is next in. I will make sure he gets those fans in as they look ace. :)

Gibbo, any chance of sorting the antec 190 for cheaper price, :D

this should complete my order then :D

[off topic i know]

Hi there

Reduced it this morning, check again and let me know. :)

They really shift the air too, I put a shuttle PC and it even kept a prescott cool.

I recommend getting the 80mm as well as 120mm ones in. Also they come with rubber fan mounts, which is quite handy.

HI there

Just spoke with Sharkoon, Golf Ball fans arriving next week. :D
