The R9 Nano Fiji Owners Thread

I can't however set the memory clock to 1100 MHz like you, the max that Trixx allows me to go to is 750MHz.
He's talking effective memory speed, which is double the number shown in Trixx (so 550MHz for 1100MHz effective). You can set it to show effective memory speed instead in the preferences if you like.

Hey Panos, I'm using 2 watercooled Sapphire Nanos and tried to confirm this for you. Only thing is, it doesn't look like I can input the same settings as you in Trixx.

My default Trixx settings are:

GPU clock: 1000MHz

GPU voltage: +0mV

Power Limit: 0%

Memory Clock: 500MHz

Fan Control: Automatic

I can't however set the memory clock to 1100 MHz like you, the max that Trixx allows me to go to is 750MHz.

The Max GPU clock that trixx allows me to go to is 1700MHz, but I haven't set it that far and in fact I haven't yet found the stable overclock settings for these cards.

In fan control alternating between the fixed and default (I assume you mean automatic) options doesn't change anything as far as I can tell.

I'm using Trixx version 5.2.1. Should I be able to input the same settings as you? If I could get some clarification with what's going on on my end I might be able to replicate this peculiarity.

OOps accept my apologies just saw this.

+6mv +50% at 1100/1100 is a good start :)

With latter drivers the 1120/1100 is my limit at +6mv /+50%

Regardless how much power more I will add to it after that, it doesn't affect the clocks :(

Here is how it looks.

No problem Panos, I myself don't get a chance to check back here that often :)

Thanks for the extra info; it looks like I'm unable to replicate the behaviour you're seeing on your end. Whether I have fan control set to automatic or fixed, I'm still able to input the same settings. Are you still seeing the peculiarity you described?

Also, I did a quick test using the overclock settings you suggested: +6mv +50% at 1100/1100 and so far my system seems stable. I was able to run the Heaven benchmark and my 2 nanos got a score of 3463 at 1920x1080. I'm gonna try a 4K bench at some point.

In the pic you posted, are those your stable overclock settings? What settings did you try that didn't affect the clocks? Sorry if I've misunderstood.

Worth going Xfire with a couple of these?

I've had no problems with these in Xfire and have been very happy with them so far. So I would say yes they're worth it, but probably only because they're in a custom watercooled loop where heat and therefore throttling is not an issue. I probably wouldn't go Xfire with them if they weren't.

Hey Panos, out of interest have you (or anyone else for that matter) used any other overclocking software for these cards like MSi afterburner? What about the over drive profile in Radeon settings? Ever played around with that?

MSI AB gave me grievances in February and had it dropped.
(However I do use it on the MSI GTX1080 atm).

And hadn't use the AMD overdrive . Trixx is much more simpler. :)

Thanks. Picked up another one for £280 and have them in Xfire now, no water cooling and no doubt they get pretty warm but I'm not seeing much throttling but then again Trixx hardware monitor doesn't seem to be able to track both cards, only one. Might have to go back to MSI Afterburner :/

Have you tried TRIXX 6

Is new version came out this week with many alterations, including better Fury overclocks and monitoring.

I will give it a try on Wednesday-Thursday and the Nano to see if indeed can break the 1120 core.
Is an opportunity because the 1080 will be dismantled to re-fit the watercooler with CLU and better thermal pads (almost 3x better than the supplied EK ones).

(And the reason I like the Predator 360, can switch WC cards, without the need to drain and re-fill the loop).

I hope your Xfire experience is as trouble free as mine :) I'm guessing you have a well ventilated case so hopefully you won't encounter any heat related issues. The inability to monitor 2 or more cards simultaneously in Trixx is a bit inconvenient so I use Afterburner at the same time. I haven't run into any complications when both pieces of software are running so you also could probably keep using Trixx to overclock and monitor using MSI AB.
Maybe the new version of Trixx that Panos mentioned will have a more useful hardware monitor.

Is it still the beta version? Good luck with breaking the 1120 core! I'll check it out myself at some point.

Yea the Predator 360 does make WC more practical which is great :) Thankfully some well placed quick release fittings in my loop helps keep GPU access practical for me :p

How close are the cards, might consider Xfire myself but they would be right next to each other, although my case is inverted so they sit vertically not horizontal (silverstone ft05).

Mine end up right next to each other. I'd love to try Crossfire but it seems BF1 beta isn't using them. Need to try BF4 with it enabled next...
