The Radeon RX 5700 XT Owners Thread.

Right guys, what is a realistic undervolt for my 5700XT with a target clock of 1905MHz?
I'm gaming at 4K and 60fps limit.
I don't need the undervolt to be super aggressive if I'm completely honest. Just want it low enough that I can set acceptable fan curves. GPU hitting 80C under load would be what I'm looking for.

My 1900mhz undervolt is something like 960mv so maybe try 1v & work backwards?

Does anyone use their 5700XT connected to their 4K TV via HDMI with sound to some separate speakers? (Connected to that TV)

Having sound cutting off randomly during gaming. This never happened when using the Vega 64. Doesn't happen with Xbox One on same set up etc, so it's dedicated to the 5700XT.
Can see same issues on AMD forums too.

So, my set up is HDMI to TV. Optical from TV to my Marantz wired to 2 speakers.

Are you saying you want your average clock speed to actually be 1905Mhz or that you want to set 1905 as the max clock in wattman?

As an example if you set 1905Mhz in Wattman it won't average at 1905, more like 1830-1840.

Do you have the HDMI output on your PC configured to two speakers?

Elaborate please.

Graphics card sends sound to TV via HDMI.
TV then sends sound to amp via optical.
Amp is connected to the two speakers.

This is same as was with the Vega 64. But the Vega 64 worked.

The cutting out is random and for a second and then back.

Go into the sound settings in the control panel and select your HDMI device, configure and set the speakers to stereo. It might be set as stereo already and it might not be your problem, but it's worth checking.

Do you mind me asking what TV it is?

After the Kraken G12 didn't work too well, I've gone for an Alphacool Eiswolf.

They just released it for Navi. Quite expensive but with a 10% off code and the fact it's modular so can be reused with new cards makes it a bit more palatable.

Low end 2070 super money in total though (£379+£167 delivered). I'll see how close it can get.

I'll give it a try when I'm back in.
It's a 55" LG OLED 2018 model.

Ah, nice tv!! Was so tempted to buy one recently. My solution is unlikely to work as the LG TV handles audio very well.

I don't know how far away your TV is from your computer, but, it might be worth trying a shorter HDMI cable? I have the same kind of problem with HDMI out from my 1080Ti if I use a long HDMI cable, I had to get a switch and use two shorter cables to make it work for me. The receiver is about 12 foot away.

Do you have an ordinary monitor with speakers? That you could use to test to see if it's handshaking issue between the TV and card?

It's a 5M cable.
Can't go any shorter.

The problem is that this was fine with the Vega 64.

There's no scope to change anything in my set up really.

I use a Corsair SP2500 with my Xonar STX for normal day to day with my 34" 144HZ over DP and that's fine as normal.

The 5700XT has introduced the issue as far as connecting to my TV goes though and then amp.

That's the joys of using HDMI, once you go over 3M lengths of cable you are in the hands of the HDMI gods and they are fickle!! My Vega card also worked perfectly to my receiver without any dropouts. When I switched to the 1080Ti, it didn't. My only solution was what I said above, a switch to go in the middle and use two shorter HDMI cables.

Does your 34 inch monitor come with HDMI and has it speakers? IF it does, the easiest way to troubleshoot this is just plug a shorter HDMI into the monitor and see if you get sound drop outs. If you don't then you know that it's the distance that's the problem.

I've had a Morpheus II on my 5700XT for a while now with two 120mm, 2000rpm noise blockers on it. Temps appear to be really good and stable running at 1950mhz / 1025mv, power slider at 0% set in wattman. Gpu-z shows 1890mhz while running heaven on a loop with the following temps:

gpu - 72c
gpu hotspot - 79c
memory temp - 82c
all vrm temps 58c - 66c
power draw 144w

Overall, quite impressed with the results so far, all I can hear is the air from the Noiseblockers and its certainly not loud at all, and I might be able to drop the fan speed a bit as well if temps stabilise.

I'll try it tomorrow, though it will be to a soundbar rather than individual speakers.
For clarity, 5700XT > 4K TV via ARC HDMI, then 4KTV > soundbar via Optical.

Max.
Anyway, I set 1905MHz for 1013mv then played Forza Horizon 4 for hours on end. Peak clock 2294MHz. WTF?
Peak Power 153w, average 106w.
GPU averaged 64C, 69C max.

I could plug my HDMI into my monitor and then use aux to go to the Corsair SP2500's.
Think that's as close as I can get to mimic.

Is the AUX going from the monitor to the Speakers? The only way to test it is for both the sound and Video to come from the HDMI on the Video card.

Might be a long shot and may not work either, but can you not grab a HDMI optical splitter in between your current setup of HDMI to TV and then TV to speakers and instead go:
HDMI to Splitter HDMI - Splitter HDMI to TV HDMI (and at same time) Splitter Optical to Speakers?
Would also allow shorter HDMI cables to be used instead of one long one. Unless if your speakers are not optical input I guess.

The reason I've got it the way I do is so I have everything connected to TV and then it dishes the sound out to my amp via optical. Introducing switches takes away the simplicity.

A HDMI 2.0 splitter in the middle is potentially an option.
But an annoying one.
