people dont understand the difference when actual gaming has no to little difference in gameplay
but you pay 3x as much for a nvidia card that dont do any difference
utube reviewers dont understand that

I'll echo what a few of us have stated recently, but we are in dire need of old-school reviewers who actually take time to test, describe and compare (and quantify where possible) the actual experience between cards. With new features like DLSS/FSR, frame gen etc. we need this more than ever because virtually no one is showing the actual detractions of using these (which is super apparent when seen first hand, IMO). Historically, this methodology has brought to light (and often ended or forced amelioration) of technologies like SLI/Crossfire, Physx, and varous AA/upscaling tech that had negative impact on IQ and frame stability.

It's not that (most) Youtube viewers don't understand: it's that they are intent on showing only basic FPS metrics because a) this is easier, b) they would get blowback from manuafactuers (and an entire industry) who have a stake in using these new features to generate sales.

Sounds like an opportunity... You wanna start a YouTube channel together, @harmattan ?

:D
I wish, but ain't got no time for that. And therein lies the problem: it's expensive to do this sort of analysis (HardOCP and Anandtech used to do it, both quit and the leads have moved on to more lucrative things).

Also, I'm thinking I'd go all in on the built-to-fail business model and only go hardcopy print (no online presence) via subscription. Or, who knows, maybe that would succeed as it would be so niche hipster tech enthusiasts. "I have that review in hard copy, I only read and collect the magazines." [as they gesture proudly at their library of old 1Up magazines]:)

Not sure about print media (my print copy of the Economist usually goes straight to the recycling bin :(), but I do think there is still a lot of value in written media. I like the hybrid model that HUB/TechSpot uses...

Maybe, if everyone is already doing the same old numbers benchmarking, our new channel (which is totally happening :p) can just skip the numbers - or perhaps just present a meta-summary of other reviewers - and talk solely about the subjective experience and total value prop of the card?

The "scoring" system can be really simple, like Steam's thumbs up vs. down.
