The real cause of global warming.

I like mine at 20c above. This morning looked at temp at 6:30AM and it was 15.5c in bed room so i switched heating on and took 3 hours to get above 20c.

Toasty 10c today!

Found old pic at work. It happens because in the morning when people get in, the building is “cold”, so people…and mostly women, but I am guessing, email building services at the front desk to get them to “turn up the heating”. And because the windows are sealed, as more people come in, more body warmth, more computers turned on, the temp goes up but nobody say anything because “it’s warm”. (I’m guessing it’s women because in person I only hear the women complaining it’s cold, never personally heard the men and the office was pretty 50/50 in numbers, just an observation.)

Whereas I know if they leave the temp as normal, as more people get in, it will rise to a nice warm temperature. But some people just want to blast it HOT immediately and then to cool down after.

why most women tend to believe - even after multiple explanations - that a higher setting will heat quicker is beyond me

I hate to be that person but technically she may be correct, situationally. Years ago for sure you were right.

Now depending on your controls they may be smart.
Mine will learn how quickly my house warms and cools compared to the heating being on and off so it actually switches off earlier and allows the rads to cool as you approach target temp. So technically taking longer to hit temp.
Likewise it starts to heat the rads before the target temp when the temp is falling so that as the rads are warming again it crosses the target temp point and stops the continued drop you would have had waiting for the rads to warm up again.
In ffect keeping the high and low far closer to target temp than a traditional control that can overshoot significantly and then let it cool too much.
We apparently react far more to the temperature differential than the exact temperature.

l havent explained this to my other half as i think it would result in pain for me ;)

Explaining anything to a woman these days will run the risk of being accused of "mansplaining".

I just cba, let them burn it all to the ground, see them panic when a radiator leaks or the boiler doesn't fire up. They love a good mansplain then.

Yeah i was just reading about upgrading my heating to a smart set up and the profiles suggest a setting that ramps the heating up really hard and fast to get to the desired temperature much fast Etherm or something its called.... :P

Its fine if you wanna have 90oC radiators in your house just dont touch....

Yes, no smart fun here but indeed anything that tries to predict things will create different outcomes. Still the "sips coffee" factor remains as per your final line :p

I was working in one of our remote offices today. Baltic outside but utterly roasting inside, proper sweaty nads temperature and yet all the women are walking round in fleeces and jumpers. One even had an oil fired radiator under her desk to complement the office heating she was so ‘cold’
Weird creatures.
