We went there during the easter break as part of our Wales adventure. Arrived, parked, took a look around, and departed as quickly as we could. I couldn't quite believe what I saw. Shops boarded up, homeless strolling around begging, people obviously intoxicated strolling around, throwing up. I've never felt as uncomfortable as i did then. It's a god awful place. I don't know what it used to be like but I felt very sad :(

I had to go and do a job there 20 years ago - I thought I had got over the trauma and then this thread came up.

been jibbering for 20 minutes.

The sea was poo coloured. :D

My grandparents retired there. We used to go for holidays every summer and loved the place. Splash point, colwyn bay. The sea life centre and fun fair plus arcades. Awesome.

Flying kites, going to the beach, model boats etc. Always sunny in Rhyl.

Rhyl, twinned with Pripyat.

living on the outskirts of Rhyl in a village called rhuddlan now i can say Rhyl is very depressing place i have not traveled much around the uk but i can not understand how bad someone's home town has to be to choose rhyl for a holiday.
But at least they seemed to have turned the school around so thats something i guess

I lived in Colwyn Bay for a year and the locals called Rhyll dog **** city.

I went for a few holidays around there in the early 80's and thought it was great :)
