Hi all!

After a HDD... :p

Ive been looking at the western digital raptor drives. I was looking at a 36 for the OS and a secondary HDD around the 250GB mark....

Now like i always do before purchasing from any where i ask the same question... Should i be looking at any better alternatives, or perhaps a bigger drive partitioned?

Key is a rapid OS and rapid map loading in games etc....

Someone point me in the right direction please (if i need pointing :p)

Thx

N

I accept that this will cost more than your present idea but I went for a 150gb raptor and I have no regrets. I later bought a Samsung spinpoint for greater storage. I felt that the 36GB Raptor would be to small for my gameing AND operating system.
Must say the Raptor made a big differance in game load times and boot up :)

Bah 36GB is enough :p. Windows will use about 3.5GB so you have 31GB to play with. Programs don't use much at all, maybe 3-4GB on your average computer and then just bing games on there. At any 1 time, you could have about 4-5 games on the raptor and usually this is enough. The 74GB is a better choice if you have the money, but 36GB is fine as it keeps cost down.

Hmm, the 74gig is only £20odd more... it would surely be a sin to opt for the 36

Budget... it think i need to clarify the meaning of budget... after i have bought all of this of course :p

Cheers smids, i think im sold on the 74gig.. i suppose a larger drive can wait as ill only be playing Quake 4, few mp3s etc....
