The Ring.

Me and a group of friends are heading over to the ring this year and then heading over the alps to Italy to visit the Ferrari factory taking in some of the roads Evo/Topgear have used. Can not wait !! I have been told but not really checked up in any detail the best time to hit the autoban for a V max run is a Sunday as no HGVs are allowed on the roads and to hit the ring mid week best to avoid July/August also.

Damn......did the rental company say anything?

the car was one specifically rented for the ring, only covered with 3rd party insurance. hence see my signature!

prices you have quoted seem very optimistic. you must be cruising the whole way at 60mph or something to only use that much fuel!

i would also hope / expect that you would want to do more than 5 laps unless you are still only planning to go for one day.

you have missed food and drink off your list as well!

It just says there full for 2008, how much does it cost you if you don't mind me asking?

I use www.nurburgmotorsport.com now! Same people different name..

Storage ranges from 55euros upwards.. Thats £41 per month..

I started doing trackdays over here and then went on a trip to the ring and it completely blew my mind! You've got to go there to realise it!

We've got a completly standard Mk2 Golf GTI which is stored there. Its great fun on the ring as its not about how fast you're going, its about the experience and your experience too! I had a guy try and follow me in an Aston Martin Vantage last time and I didn't see him for dust! I know the cars are in different monetary leagues but he wasn't even close, even after saying to his mate "We'll follow him" with a cheeky grin on his face!

Flights out there range from £20 return upwards! You can get some real bargains ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sB6fxk4A4m4 )

Then on top of that is car hire (from airport to ring) and hotel (about £25 upwards)

You can go out for a few days and make it as cheap or expensive as you want but I look at it as the price of a trackday in this country and the cost going the ring, I know where I'd rather go!!!!!!

It gets even cheaper if a couple of mates go in on the car too and go out there together!

Aint what you drive it's what you do with it. A fast car will only get you so far on the ring....usually into the armco if you don't know what you are doing!:D Going to the ring is not cheap but it's not stupidly expensive either. I spent what I normally would on holiday+extra for fuel and ring tickets. Didn't really do anything special to get the car in to shape as I try to maintain it properly anyway. There's only so many laps you can do in one day anyway to be perfectly honest.

Isn't that what I said?!

Going to the ring for a couple of days is about what I'd pay for a track day!!!!
