I quite fancy a few days at the Ring next year with my new motor. Can anyone summarise what the score is?

Is the full circuit available? What restrictions are in force? Are helmets required? Why do lots of people die there?

On tourist days, the entire circuit is available to drive on with the exception of the long straight as thats where the exit from the circuit is. You don't need a helmet, your car must be road legal as it's a public road and most insurance companies specifically exclude cover on the ring.

Lots of people die because it's a dangerous, challenging circuit thats very crowded with very little runoff and some people go absolutely balls out when driving around it.

Ferry or Train over, about 6 hours drive to the ring.

Full circuit is available but without the F1 course in with the track.

Stayed in a hotel room (Sabines Place) Hotel Am Tiergarten last time and it was fantastic but quite expensive.

Pistenklause is a fantastic place to eat and just over the road.

No Helmets needed.

You can't drive a full lap so its bridge to gantry.

I'd sort track insurance out for your new toy.

2) Racing is prohibited. This includes attempting to set speed records with individual vehicles.

If your hinting towards manufacturers lap times, I'm fairly sure those are done with special permission when the track is closed. Watch one of the onboard cams and the track is always empty.

They are done on the days the ring is closed for testing, which is most of the time.

Boss we are looking to go back early April/May/June before it gets busy so join us!

Will only be doing 1 'Ring trip next year - Its changed over the past few years; far too busy now :(

Circut is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Nordschleife.png

No filming on the track and overtake on the left

No lids are required but its your choice if you want to have one.

People die because of lack of driver error and them timing their laps trying to get sub 6/7/8/9 min laps.

I might be up for that :)

Just found the ZR1 lap and the circuit looks fab.

Sounds like public days are busy though.
