The rings of death on your xbox

Funny you should say that, just turned mine on and I have the 3 rings of death (tried the cures but no avail so it will have to be repaired under warranty :( )
It has been freezing occasionallyfor about 12 months on a few games (mainly oblivion) but I put it down to the discs tbh.

If it's still within the 12 month warranty and the problem is severe then get it repaired under warranty before it gets worse.

Mine crashed all the time but it never red lighted. Did it for about 6 months before i got that annoyed i took it apart and put some new thermal paste on the chips. Hasnt crashed since.

If it is crashing it'll probably red light if you don't do any fixes, i did mine as i opened it up before they brought in the new 3 year warranty deal.

Hmm well it's seems ok now, it was always on my desk in the open air, only the other day i put it in the unit the tv sits on. A bunch of cd's was covering the air intake on the left hand side.

The CS line is pretty poor apparently and repair is around the 2 week mark but you can fill out an online form rather than fight through the 0800 number.

edit/ damn just realised I'm posting on my sons account  @me :p Sp!ke

That's the understatement of the year. :) They are a joke, half the time advisor's don't even know what your talking about. Mine died about a month ago and it took 3 weeks to be returned.

Personally, I'd call the 0800 number, as they can email you shipping labels instantly - you can then get the ball rolling with UPS (who are excellent, showing up at the exact time agreed - they were waiting for me at my house after work! ;) )

My Saints Row crashed few months back, was expecting a RRoD, I later learned it was normal :D

I see well last couple of times i have had red rings games freeze up then bam it appears. :)

Really hope the new improved ones are better console always seems to last about a year and die for me. :(

I've had the three lights of death, but I'm still waiting for a repair 14 weeks on. No joke.

When mine got the red lights from start to finish it took 10 days for the collection and repair.
I have not heard of anyone having to wait 14 weeks not even on any forums.
Are you not ringing them up and raising hell.
I would ring them after 2 weeks never mind 14 weeks.

im just waiting for my email now  cant beleave it can take upto 48hrs to email a shipping label, as its my 2nd time its been repaired though i got a free gift.

Trying to explain anything technical to them is a waste of time. When my 2nd Xbox died, I told them that it crashed after about 20 minutes of gameplay. I was asked if it crashed during online play too. I said I didn't know and they asked to to reproduce the problem whilst on the line!

In the end I just lied to them and told them that I could reproduce it. I didn't even have a gold subscription so I don't know how that expected me to try it.

However, they generally do a good job of putting things right once you've sent it back. :)

I called MS support at 8:30 this morning and I received the email with the UPS label this afternoon.
A UPS driver collected it about 40 mins after I had arranged the collection.

that's probably something to do with it. keep it well ventilated at all times.

I have to say, Crashing is not necessarily a sign of a RROD.

Depends on the game, I get crashes now and again from Oblivion. It's just a buggy game, But to be fair that's all it happens in.

Also, At the moment, I'm getting what look like crashes on the dashboard, but it's just lag from the live problems, which if you just leave your console a minute or 2, it catches up and is fine.
