The rings of death on your xbox

I plugged it in and played Mass Effect for about 4 hours, and it crashed and started RROD'ing again!! Unbelievable. Its been returned now for the second repair job in less than a month....

That sucks.
I hope they are going to do a quick job for you.
Too be fair, because your repaired one is still knackered, they should've just done an advance replacement and collected your one at the same time.
I don't think they do this but there is no excuse not to as they must have buffer stock at the repair centre.

I'm waiting for mine to come back and I've read that quite a few people have had a replacement DVDROM when the box has suffered from 3RLOD (yeah nice one repair dept, lets employ people who are clueless).
I've also read about a few people who have suffered the same scenario as you have.
God help them if mine dies again so quickly, I won't allow them 2 - 3 weeks yet again to sort it out without daily calls from me chasing the replacement / repair.

In all seriousness, they obviously had a fundamental design flaw and it seems surprising that MS weren't forced in to doing a recall.

By the time MS admitted there was a problem, millions of units had already been sold.
A total recall would've been a logistics nightmare and would have been imposible to impliment.
What really annoys me is that we get replacement mainboards with the same cooling as the old units.
I've heard that some people have received replacements mainboards with improved cooling but I presume that's all down to the stock available at the repair centre.
I find it bizarre that it's rare to hear that a motherboard or graphics card manufacturer has had an issue with a product due to poor cooling.
MS clearly didn't give the Xbox 360 enough testing before releasing it to the market all because they wanted to beat Sony to the market with regard to the PS3.
Unless I am mistaken (I never owned one), wasn't there a problem with the orginal Xbox power supply?
If I had known about the 360's cooling issue when I bought my orignal one in Sept 06, I may of held out until the problem was resolved.
I suppose it's all very well for me to say that in hindsight, but to be quoted '2 - 3 weeks' for mine to be returned just leaves me feeling that the repair centre has a huge pile of 360's waiting to be repaired and clearly not enough staff to fulfill a quicker turnaround.

there was a problem with the original xbox power supply, they would blow up according to reports. You could fill in a form to get a replacement, i did and never received one

I'd best get this ups label printed out on monday and get it sent back, weeks without call of duty! i dont think i can cope!

Sometimes I think things can be a bit hit and miss with MS when it comes to their Xbox support dept.
A lot of people waited weeks to get their free transfer cable when they bought their elites yet my stepdaughters husband applied for his in early Nov, went on holiday a couple of days later and the cable arrived while they were away.

Well 5 months after getting my xbox back, it's looks like it's on the way to destruction again :(

Past two days i've been playing call of duty 3 online and it'll suddenly crash, completely freeze. Seems to turn on ok after, no red rings yet but i reckon they will be coming soon. :(

What do you all think?

Mine has just died, been playing GH3 for about 30mins. Put Bad Company in and thought i'd have a good crack at it, it load to start screen, loud beep and froze. Restarted 360 and got 3 red lights staring straight back at me, tried it a couple more times and nothing, so off to MS it goes.

I'm tempted now to go buy either a core one or splash out on an elite for hdmi and sell the one that comes back to me.
