Anyone watching this?

Seems quite amusing...light hearted slapstick comedy. :)

Sir David Jason stars in The Royal Bodyguard as Captain Guy Hubble an ex-guardsman who saw action in Cyprus and Northern Ireland.

Now Head of Security at Buckingham Palace car park, he is surprisingly appointed as Royal Bodyguard after saving the Queen's life in an act of bravery on the day of the State Opening of Parliament.

Hubble takes his new role very seriously but soon starts to upset foreign ambassadors, his colleagues and members of the public. He even manages to endanger Royal security repeatedly and on a colossal scale, yet somehow comes up smelling of roses every time.

Sir David says: "I am really enjoying working with the very talented producer Jimmy Mulville, and working on a great comedy project with the BBC. It's good to have a laugh again!"

The Royal Bodyguard also stars Timothy Bentinck, Geoffrey Whitehead and Tim Downie, and guest stars David Walliams.

The Royal Bodyguard is written by Justin Sbresni and Mark Bussell (The Worst Week Of My Life) and is a Hat Trick / Busby production.

Well it's just finished.

Quite amusing, easy to watch but very predictable. I'm surprised it has 6 episodes...not sure how they could vary it enough. :o

6/10 but only because it has David Jason.

We watched an episode of this on the iPlayer last night.

Utterly dreadful.
Was it the Siege of Blenheim Square one? I watched it as well to see if there was any chance of it being better than the really poor series opener. No chance. I was almost embarrassed to see David Jason tarnishing his great acting legacy by getting involved in such a pile of rubbish.

I almost thought there was a touch of Norman Wisdom-esque clumsiness in David Jason's character. Trouble is that David Jason can't pull of that kind of acting as well as Norman Wisdom could.

Saw about 10 minutes of it last night - I had to turn over, it made me cringe too much.

It was the bit where he falls through the jewellery shop window and his toupee falls off and stops the gun from going off.

This was my initial reaction...

:p

I also watched the first two episodes of this, and was shocked how poor it was... to the point i thought it could be deliberately bad. Some scenes using Stunt doubles make absolutely no effort to hide the fact its a double and the plots you can see unfolding a mile off are just Mr Bean-eqsue.

I agree - I was really surprised Sir Jason accepted such a "Chucklevision" type role... The direction and acting was fairly horrible as well! (From what I could bare to watch...)

Watched the second episode (well half till I switched over) and appalled to see that david Jason would do this. My only thought was that he is broke - cannot think of any other reason.

Saw the trailer and despaired. Brian Limond (AKA Limmy from 'Limmy's Show') described it as 'Labotomedy'.

yes i have watched both episodes now. I only recorded them as Sir David in them. But I feel this is not a good show at all. You may as well put the chuckle brothers in it.

Very slap stick and not very good in my mind at all.

David Jason must have bills to pay. How did this get through commissioning? He is too old for the role! Shame as DJ is a much loved guy.

Really disappointing. I expected a lot from this with it having the great David Jason in.

But after the first episode was so embarrassingly bad, I canceled the series recording.

The BBC comes up with so many great programmes, and the something like this. ?!?
