The RX Vega 56 Owners Thread

My score seems low? or expected for my system spec?

Time Spy:

Radeon settings on default. Wattman on balanced.

Graphics score: 5971

Peak clocks recorded after run:

That seems low. My stock (balanced) graphics score was 6380. My highest has been 6935 with +50% power & hbm at 900. Undervolted at 1030mv same settings got me 6907.

Hey guys

Anyone getting stuttering and fps drops in game?

Happening in overwatch, I'm getting well over 120 fps but then will suddenly drop to about 30-40.

This is with a fresh windows install. Running a R5 1600 @ 4.0Ghz, 16gb @ 2400, 650w corsair psu.

Radeon Chill? That seemed to drop Overwatch to about 35-45fps when things were static for me. It'd be nice to be able to tweak the target to keep it within freesync range.

Chill is off.

It seems I'm not the only one with the issues. A few people on AMD forums are reporting the same problem.

Do you have HWINFO64 running in the background? This was causing similar issues to what you are describing. There are more details, including something you can tweak to get around it rather than have to shut HWINFO64 down completely, if you search through AMD Matts posts in the Vega 64 owners thread.

I get the same result on balanced, added 50% and the scores went up to 6500+. Haven't tested any other settings yet.

Glad to hear that was starting to think if something was wrong with my card.

Maybe our cards aren't as well binned as others. That's the only thing that can explain the score difference to me. Unless someone else can enlighten us.

Are you sure others are using Balaced profile, in time spy and not turbo. I noticed using balanced in time spy my clocks only went to around 1200 and not 1400 like games. Do you get the same thing? Adding the 50% allowed them to boost to 1500odd.hence the 6500 scores.
I reckon in balanced boosting of 1400 ours would match the other scores you've seen stock etc. Hope that make sense.

High 50s during the boosted 1200 clocks. 60s by the end of the run. Nothing major. During the plus 50 power setting temps where 70. Temps are pretty good to be honest. Better than the 390 before it that's for sure. Edit: Fan was around 1400rpm at the time if I recall correctly.

No chance of throttling then. Might be worth a DDU/fresh install? I'm using the latest drivers btw.
I've done that more times this weekend than any other time period to try and solve the rift issue I've got lol. That's deffinetly not the cause of my lack of higher boosts clocks during timespy. I'm sure with newer drivers these kinks will be worked out. Its not binning as if it was I wouldn't have seen the 1500 boosts in timespy. Only thing I could possibly think of is some kind of power saving function.

I agree I think we will see improvements with upcoming driver revisions. Thinking about it, I did get one anomalous result. I reset wattman to balanced then went to custom & activated the voltage & core buttons without actually changing any values. My timespy score was about 5800 something! To my mind I should have gotten the same score that balanced gave me?

Now that you mention it, that happened to me in my earlier testing pre dduing a couple of times. As soon as you go Custom without adjusting any values, my edit was fan speed boost clocks of 1200 rather than 1400. I did actually manage to get it to boost in standard but can't remember how.
Edit sticking the same mv in p6 and 7 seems to trigger it actually - 1200 boost that is, If anybody can confirm

I just repeated my test & lo & behold, graphics score 5836 & boosting 1250-1300ish.

Now to find out why which I imagine will be a bit more difficult

Indeed! Well with further testing I have confirmed that my boost clocks in power-save, balanced & turbo are the same if I reset & manually apply the power profiles which are -10%, 0% & +15%.

My boost clocks are then low 1440's, high 1400's & low 1500's respectively.

The only time I get the low 1300's is if I reset>custom>click voltage & core toggle then apply.

So my conclusion is that for whatever reason, your balanced mode is not applying correctly. As for why.. um.. @AMDMatt ?:D
