The Shield is the best cop series ever imo. It never let up from start to finish... and what a finish it was.

I finally started watching this earlier in the year - am now into the final season!

Think it was all the comments about Walton Goggins aka "Venus Van Dams" character in Sons of Anarchy that got me interested - couldn't quite take him seriously after seeing his SoA cameo's

Sounds like this show has some fans then! I'm now near the end of Season 3, currently watching an episode or two each day so getting through them quickly. Need to line up my next show after I've finished with this!

Big fan of the The Shield.
I watched all episodes one after the other on a daily basis, about a year ago.
Very good show.
And just to add, there is a "proper" ending to the show. All characters get closure.

I also watched 2 seasons of The Wire and it was terrible (I didnt like it).
I found The Wire, VERY slow moving and nothing really actually happened.

I preferred the sheild over the wire... You get shot down for saying that.

S2 of the wire was it's worst one if you can hold out it will get better, as for the shield I loved it and was glad it got a proper ending

Sign of a good show when it doesn't really have a proper dull season.

Excellent writers and well cast show. Not many series about that are as consistently good as this.

The Shield is incredible. Even got the Mrs seal of approval as she watched the whole lot too.
So many great moments across the seasons, The entire season with Forest Whitaker in it was some of the best tv iv watched to this date.

The Forest Whitaker episodes were good.
And how he is the one who ended up in the brown stuff, was even better.
They basically turned the whole thing on him.

The shield is awesome well worth the time to watch. Ending is 100% disappointing though (but when is a series ever good at doing an ending?)
