The Smiths

<3 the smiths. Definitely one of the greatest British bands. Regardless of personal opinion they reached a generation (now several). And by 'reached' I mean a little more than 'they went out and bought the lp' :P.

I thought they were crap when they came out and I just didn't 'get them'.
Everytime Morrisey came on the TV I had to turn him off.
I must have mellowed because I can now listen to them but no way would they ever be in my top 1000 British bands list.

That pretty much sums up my feeling too.

The Smiths were just perfect.

Quality music, nothing will top it imo. Ever.

Morrissey on his own isn't the same though. To me he performed better in a band.

Jonny Marr was why the Smiths were so good imo..

Azagoth, I would ave imagined that you wouldn't like them: dunno why lol :p

:D

To make things even worse, I used to date a girl who was an absolute 'The Smiths' fanatic. I've lost count of the times I returned home, turned on my stereo only to be aurally raped by the poncey warbling of Morrisey.

The band he had with him when I saw him a couple of years ago were very good, and were easily as tight as the smiths were.

"Hatful of Hollow" by The Smiths is in my top ten albums. There isn't a bad track on it.
