How do you disable the 3D dock? I tried:

defaults write com.apple.dock no-glass -boolean YES; killall Dock

Does not seem to work though =[

Never mind seems to have worked now

The dock background appears to be a bit different now, CandyBar won't allow me to change it with a background that I used before.

I've not tried the magic 6 & 4 combo yet.

Well I said I'd see how it goes on a 32bit system...so far so good, I'd say it's a bit snappier, difficult to say as my leopard install was itself an upgrade of tiger so it'd been a long time since a fresh build. But with all my usual stuff back on, it seems a bit snappier than just the rebuild would account for.

My opinion...it's probably worth it for £25 even on 32 bit core duo machines.

so guys,

time machine noob here, but:

did the upgrade last night and am now thinking i should have done a clean install and restore my home folder using time machine as this is my first mac and i think i'd like a clean start for snow leopard.

So, if i put the disc in and wipe the drive and reinstall, will time machine let me restore my home folder and selected apps?

Yes, should ask immediately after the clean install finishes if you want to transfer files and time machine backup is an option to import there (as I recall anyway)

If I tap cmd-space and type terminal into the spotlight window, this is what comes up.

This was fine on Leopard.

I've deleted my spotlight preferences already, any ideas?

DO NOT use Magnifique on Snow Leopard

WARNING: DO NOT use Magnifique on OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. It's almost certain that it will mess up your system beyond repair.

We are planning a complete rewrite of Magnifique once Snow Leopard is released. Thanks for everyone's support
