As you are aware my battery died during the game last night. It was perfect timing as I was so close to rage quitting!!
Anyway, after I calmed down I began looking into other games that we could play. But I got side tracked because my brain has a millisecond attention span and I started thinking about the game that started it all. Star Trek Bridge Crew. It's close to three years now that the four intrepid explorers, Ravenger, Unseul, Shiwarrior and Melmac took charge of the U.S.S Aegis and proceeded to make a complete hash of everything. Chilli and 3 of his doggy friends would have made a better effort. We did improve a little, I mean we didn't crash into every asteroid and space station and we even managed to finish a few missions!!
Good times. But that all came to and end when one of the intrepid explorers had too good of a time. The crew-gate incident. Mostly classified but let's just say that Unseul and that ensign in the corner got a little too friendly!
I didn't think that almost 3 years later we would still be playing VR games together. And now we have added Pleyor, Riggs and Mr.Cookie to our motley crew, I hope it continues long into the future.
Now back to games to play. Finding another Walkabout Golf has proven to be very difficult. Games with more than four players is tough. There are games like Pavlov, Contractors, Breachers, Rec Room Games, Population one etc. Shooty games!! For whatever reason they haven't taken off with us. Maybe it's just that some of us haven't got those games. I just get the feeling that the interest isn't there in FPS games. Or is it just that we have to pick one and get it and give it a good go sometime?
We did try Rec Room, Paintball and Lasertag. Maybe I am way off, I just got the feeling playing those games in Rec Room that players lost interest very quickly. To put it another way, if you told the hangout group that they couldn't play Walkabout any more I think we all would be disappointed. However, if you said we couldn't play Lasertag or Paintball, don't think we would care much at all.
Somebody on Reddit did a big list of mulitplayer games with a brief description, the numbers of players and whether it was CO-OP or not. The one game on that list that seemed like something we would like is SpaceTeam VR. It got a Star Trek Bridge Crew vibe to it, but more whacky. Same sort of thing, players each have a console and they have to work together to get the ship to safety. It's for 6 people though. And that's not the only problem, it seems to be very buggy. Not 100% sure about the gameplay either. Will try and watch a gameplay video today to see what it's like.
It's a pity someone couldn't make a Demeo type game where you have the four heroes but have four players controlling the mobs as well.
