The Social Gathering / Gaming Thread [A place to organize meet-ups]

There are other shooters I keep suggesting but no-one seems interested:
  • Contractors - This has up to 16 players, and supports mods and bots. There's also a Steam VR version which I also have.
  • Quake 3 Team Arena - a free source port. You just need the original PC game to copy from. 8 players, fast and frantic action.
  • Pavlov Shack. Currently available on sidequest, but will released fully soon. Pavlov is also on Steam and I have it.
And of course I can always try to host a movie night, with dozens of 3D movies to choose from.

I have all 3 of those installed, including Pavlov on PC and PS5 (and Shack on Quest).

you guys played payday 2 (currently £10:40)?
or to serious for you lot? seems like it might be something you'd enjoy

i think this may be worth a look possibly

Final Space looks decent. It reminds me of the Quests in Rec Room.

Payday 2 I played it for a while. It gets very busy and complicated and I wonder how it would work for us, especially considering this :-
i've actually got pd2 and have played in vr, albeit briefly (didn't know what i was doing:o )

:p

Actually, It was ok. Only Ok though. I believe there are a lot of mods out now that improve the VR experience. So it might be a much better game now. It's available for next to nothing on Steam at the moment.

Breachers was awesome. I've been too occupied with the little one lately! I'd love to play more VR shooters as a team. That Cross Fire Sierra looks really good.

I have been thinking about this some more. Our problem with these games is numbers. We usually have 5 players, not all the time, but mostly we end up with 5. That's too many for the co-op shooter games which are normally 4 players. And it's too few for a lot of the shooter games with maps designed for 8 or 10 players. There are some games that fill out the missing numbers with Bots. But playing against bots is crap. The other side of things is that these games require more effort than Golf and Demeo etc. Which is probably another reason why there is slow uptake of these games with this group.

As for movie night. I am putting off movie night until I get a better headset for watching movies. Will see what the Quest 3 is like and will either go for that or a second hand Quest pro.
