Hey all!!

Thought this was the best place!
Going go-karting for my mates stag so I thought for a laugh I'd dress up as the stig! Couple people going are real race nuts, go to track days and stuff so I thought it would give them a good laugh!
But I'm struggling to find a stig outfit, I can find the individual parts but proper racing ones totaling a cost of like £400+, don't think the gf would be pleased if I spent that much lol
I'm looking to spend like £100-£150 for the whole lot but the cheaper the better!
So is anyone elses googling skills better than mine!

Any white racing lid (cheapo one £75~), with a tinted (can do it yourself with some tinting film) visor, and a set of white racing overalls. Job done.

You're going to spend £150 for a costume for go-karting?

Well I could wear it another time too lol wear it 3 times and it practically makes its money back! (and I'm a student lol)

Sounds simple doesn't it! Try and find some cheap white overalls, only cheap ones I've found are mixed colour! And I'll need the gloves and shoes too!!
:D

You cant do this buying real brands and real products even getting the cheapest you can find.

Wear your normal trainers and just get some white gloves as you thats fine for just karting. As for race suit if the track will let you wear normal white overalls then that would help, maybe find out before you go as karting ones wont be fireproof anyway. It wont look how you were hoping but people will get the idea, especially if you stand there with your arms folded and dont say anything. Not sure how to do the helmet though. The cheapest simpson helmet you can get is the bandit and thats £280+vat so again will have to mock it up. But its just going to have to be random bits unless someones finds some cheap stuff on ebay or something.

I like this one best!! Cheers!
I did want a proper race suit, but this might do!
Thanks guys! Some good ideas!

Excellent idea

You could even pop it back on the bay afterwards as a 'pretend stig party suit'!

Dont mean to be a killjoy or anything

but does the place you're going have any rules about what you can and cant wear ?

Unless of course you're just going to turn up in your stig outfit then change into their FIA approved (or whatever they might require) stuff to do the actual karting in ?

FIA approved, i doubt it, karting stuff doesn't even need to be snell approved or even fireproof. Will still be some mild british standards to worry about though i think, im not sure just how basic you can go on the helmet. All the cloths though you can wear just anything in theory if you just turn up and drive like it sounds you will be. The suite, gloves, shoes etc have no regulations to pass for basic karting.

Thats why I wanted a proper race suit :D
But I wouldn't mind if they asked me to change out of it for the racing, it is my safety after all lol
We're going here - www.matchamskarting.co.uk
Doing an hour endurance race :p
Sounds pretty kool I've done some karting before so hopefully I won't get owned!

youre in southampton? check out the bike shop opposite the mayflower and the one opposite Heli-beds in Bevois Valley. Not sure they'll have something in your price range though but worth a look
