The stuff to secure (e.g.) power switches...

Just replaced a power switch, the old one was secured with a blob of something that was an fairly opaque white. The replacement could do with securing in the same way, no idea what to use. Bathroom silicone sealant smells strongly of vinegar when curing, not sure if that's OK to use.
 
Hot glue would work fine and shouldn't smell as badly as the sealant. You can get a hot glue gun with some glue sticks for <£10.
