The Talos Principle II - Out on 2nd November 2023

Well that's not good. I just get crash to desktop when trying to play.

EDIT: Selecting Auto Detect on graphics and then not touching anything cured that problem so we’re off!

Looks like it does have ray tracing actually via hybrid Lumen, setting high/ultra enables RT reflections and RT lighting, but because it also uses screen space, you get the weirdness when moving the camera out of centre.

Roughly Half way through now. This game is just incredible. Is such a shame I can’t see any of the RT effects as I bet they look amazing reflecting all the lasers.

Unbelievably good.

I'm a few hours in and just missing one star from the first level which I'll go back for at some stage. Can't stop playing but don't want to finish it too quickly.

I wouldn't worry about that. I think it's about 40 hours long to do all the puzzles (at least with my progress). I'm maybe beginning to feel a little bit fatigued now at 2/3rds done.

Got the game a couple of days ago and am loving it.

Beautiful settings and the puzzles really make you think.

Not to far into the game, but will have to go back to previous maps to get the stars (just found out how to get them :p).

I don't buy games when they first come out, but couldn't resist at £22.

Well worth it. :)

HDR has now been fixed and it looks extremely good in this game and much better than SDR. You also get proper options to adjust the peak brightness and the interface brightness (thankfully in nits). So many developers get these basics wrong.

How's everyone else getting on with this? Yesterday I finished all the main puzzles and completed the story and am now working my way steadily through the remaining bits. I did really enjoy it, even if the storyline is a little bit highbrow the puzzles were perfectly pitched for me - significantly easier in general than late game Talos 1 but still challenging enough to give me a sense of satisfaction for cracking them. I will chip away at the secrets over the next few weeks and hopefully manage to complete the lot. Definitely great value for the ~£20 I paid for it.

One thing to watch out for

The final puzzle inside the megastructure does not have a savepoint, so you have to solve it in one go. Devs have said this is intentional but don't make the mistake I did and get partway through and shut down for the night thinking I could pick up where I left off!
