Rubbish, I've lived in Germany and the States and never had a problem with approaching cops.
Guess what, most officers won't EVER need to use their firearm, even in the States. It's about being prepared for those rare occasions and being able to protect the public which, by the by, is the job of the police.
Obviously some police officers won't go all the way to protect the public.
See you're probably not the demographic I'm referring to. Police often get called to people who are at their most vulnerable - when something private has suddenly become the business of strangers. It's when you turn up to someone in this position that you want to make them feel at ease so they can tell you their secrets and air their dirty laundry. Many officers worry that firearms and the perceptions that they carry will make it more difficult for victims to feel at ease and I think that's a worry that I completely empathise with.
